My opinion is that it is one of the worst live albums... obviously the songs are great, but as a live album, it's trash.  Blah, and I knew it would show up here.  :-\

My top 5 are:
1. Dave Matthews Band - Listener Supported
2. Dave Matthews Band - Live At Red Rocks
3. Kiss - Alive 3
4. Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Live At Luther College
5. Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won

You really can't fuck with DMB live, incredible musicians.

Now that I think about it with th re-recorded vocals it does make live era trash.

Now that I think about it with th re-recorded vocals it does make live era trash.

The rerecorded vocals, no listing of where the songs came from (what shows, what year), don't know which band members are playing on each song, lots of touch ups (wasn't Patience from two completely different shows?)...

Of course you can still listen to it because the songs are so great!.... Axl's vocals on Sweet Child aren't the best tho hehe....

Nightrain (dunno the place but I am sure from all the boots I have, Axl re-record it), It's so easy (Paris 92), November rain (Tokyo 92), Pretty tied up (Tokyo 92), Move to the city (Tokyo 92), You could be mine (Tokyo 92), Scom (Paris 92), Estranged (tokyo 92) Also Coma's last part seems re-recorded.

All tokyo that sux. They should have chosen another one, not an official released concert.

well my obvious choice for best live band ever would be Led Zeppelin. id have to choose a zep album for this . i'd go for How the west was won, although it's a postume album...
most of the power a band is given by its live performances...
.. another almost surprisingly great album (just re-listened to it today) . one of the best ever is Pulse by Pink Floyd////

Metallica - S&M - okay the tracklist is lousy (too much from Load and Reload ) but songs like Master of Puppets sound so much better with the orchestra!
GNR live era - i will go on record as saying the live versions of Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City are as good and maybe better than the studio cuts - the guitar tone is much better, its so much more raw and powerful, great stuff

Hate to break it to ya' guys but Guns N' Roses Live Era isn't that great. It's average, but it just isn't too special.

I would say Nirvana: Unplugged in New York is probably the best but I haven't listened to too many live albums.

I am surprised more people havnm't mentioned S&M by Metallica. I thought it was a great concpet, didn't work with all of their songs but some turned out fucking awesome. Another favorite is a fistful of alice by alice cooper recorded down at sammy hagars cabo wabo (Slash plays on some tracks including a kick ass solo on only women bleed) and a classic Cheap Trick Live at Budokan.

Official releases please. ( That means no Bootlegs)
Mine...

Pantera - 101 Proof

Chris Misfit told me to buy this the first time i met him when he came to stay with me in Norwich. Ach The Memories.  :'(
Its awesome for anyone that hasnt heard it!

And as far as im aware it was recorded at one show, as opposed to 3-4 shows with fake crowd noise. Will be willingly proved wrong on that last point though...its just my understanding.

There's a few Unplugged albums that are spectacular: Alice In Chains, Seal, and Rod Stewart. Sarah Mclachlan had a live album a few years back that sounded unbelieveable, but there were rumors that she did alot of vocals in the studio, so I guess it truly cant be considered live.

You`ve gotta be kiding me?Live Era one of the best live albums ever?I mean, GNR is my favourite band, but just because they put a live album it doesnt automatically makes it the best llive album.I think we should all be honest and admit that Live Era is a crappy album, most of the songs in the album arent even the best live version. There`s no Paris 92, no Ritz 88, no Ritz 91, no Argentina 93.Plus, its full of Tokio 92 songs, that are just horrible, and most of the songs were re-recorded, either the guitars or the vocals. So its not the best live album, not even close.
My list is:
Alice In Chains-Unplugged
Iron Maiden.Rock I n Rio (One of the best live bands ever)
Any AC DC live album is awsome.
Most of the Rollin Stones live albums are great too.

Yeah, a live version of Jungleland would've been awesome.  With Bruce though he's got somany great songs that its pretty much impossible to get them all in...even when the live album is 3 discs long.
