Title: GNR and axl
Post by: im rickjames bitch on November 24, 2005, 07:59:32 AM
do u think GNR would have gotten so big without axl? i dont know if they would have. if they had some other singer people prolly woulda thought meh this is just another 80s rock band. izzy, duff, slash, adler are very talented but i think without axl's voice and song writing they wouldnt have got so big. they prolly woulda still got radio play and everything though. now i think if metallica didnt have james they prolly still woulda been very succesful. although james wrote pretty much all of metallicas riffs, except for mustaines riffs on KEM and RTL.

They could have been a damn good band, but not great.

GNR became famous for ALL the integrants... Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven...

Now the question is... will guns n roses be famous again, without 4 of his stars?

I have my faith on them and I think it will.
Axl is the messiah  :nervous: ---> men I'd better stop drinking :puke:

:hihi:  Yeah, I think you'd better stop drinking!  ;)

I don't think GnR would have been any where near as big without Axl.  He kind of drove the band (when they were in their "heyday").  He was out there, controversial, outspoken, did things that incited riots.  That's what gets a band noticed!  He truly was (is?) a great frontman.  One of the best.

A friend of mine said " a band is only as good as it's singer". And i might agree with him on this one

I couldn't agree more.  Each member of that original band contributed something different.  They were the perfect combination, and without one its just not the same.  The one that was closest to being expendable was Steve.  And even he was integral.

I dont know to give a few names I could say Dave mustaine is a bad singer, but his lyrics and power at singing are excelent, so goes to Corgan which I can't remember his name.

Of course they unique and original in a few things but I think the soul of the group rest in Axl

I highly disagree.  Axl is only part of the soul of GN'R.  Slash, Izzy, and Duff are also a part of that soul.  That's why it hasn't worked out yet with this new group of jobbers.

they probably wouldn't of been as big, but they still woulda been a hell of a band.

I have to say this but the most songs I like are Axl performance, Im talking Breakdown, Locomotive, Estranged, so if he can do that once again with different fellows that will prove my point. But I do think that Axl it's very indispensable in GNR history more than anyone else.
