i just checked out the video for the new VR song "come on come in" from the fantastic 4 soundtrack, and i was pleasantly surprised...i think it is their best song yet....it definitely has more of a gnr vibe than contraband had...very fast paced, and a killer gnr-like riff....surprisingly, weiland's vocals are pretty strong and not in the lazy, grunge stye that he used in contraband.

Man, what a toe tapper!  I love it!

Great rock tune.  Really chunky sound.

Man, what a kick ass video!!!!  It's superbly made.  The stops and the doubled Slashes... and inside the amps zooming out etc... bloody ace!  Really full of energy.

Verdict:  Ace :D

worst video to date imo. so cheesy with the film footage, no fans going nuts booooooooooo

I hope for You Got No Right they do what Duff suggested they wanted to do by showing backstage and live footage like Paradise City. Those are always the best videos

Ehhh, I might give an edge to this one over Slither...  I do think it's ballsy to have Scott with no microphone, he looks a little lost sometimes.  I like the ending though (Human Torch writing VR in the sky).

Just watched it seemed ok nothing special i actually prefered the video to the song, seemed a bit bland but i'm not to fussed, no offence to them but i can't see it being on the album i would say it was done with simply the paycheck in mind, i do only have a 56k connection though maybe once i hear and see a better quality version i might be more impressed.

after watching it a 2nd time the band scenes are brilliant except some of the far angles where you can't see them. Love the style and profiling Scott scenes in the white and the black suits. still hate the movie footage though

mate, you're opinion matters no more than anyone elses... and believe me... if I had the chance to see either Velvet Revolver or NewGnR, I take VR ANY day.  Slash is my favorite musician of all time, and Axl comes no where near close.

See?  What you're doing is hoping that everyone will think you're right... but in fact, you're talking out of your ass.  VR have at least sold a few million records now... Axl's sold shit.  Another thing is that, ask any Stone Temple Pilots fan and you'll find that in fact, they'll likely tell you that Scott is the something special for them, and again, Axl wont come close.  Opinions.  Not worth shit to someone who disagrees.

I dunno what Gn'R song this sounds like. It sounds like a song from...Velvet Revolver.

I think these guys are finding their niche with each other. If they are going to put of stuff like this on the next album, and have some better vocal efforts like this from weiland, also sided with their stage act... These guys will just get bigger and bigger.

I know what you mean. Athough it sounds more VR than anything there are parts of the song where the guys are rocking out like they do in parts of Coma. I think your thinking about Coma...i think this part "its a miracle, how long you can stay in a world thats..."

I really love VR but never compare anything about any of their songs to a masterpiece like Coma.

this song isnt anywhere near that caliber of a song in any way shape or form.

Well, Gn'R had a lot of time to come up with Coma. They added it to their third album mind you even though it was composed years before, me thinks. Although I doubt VR would try a epic like coma. They are missing a key ingredient in Izzy. ?Dave just doesn't have the personality. Scott could probably handle something like that. But it would take work. Scott isn't known for his lyrics like Axl. So, it could happen. they would have to work on something like that... this song is still twenty times better then anything around today.

Scott Rules, and STP is very special...I would never compare him to Axl...I love them both.... But Velvet Revolver is CRAP? :-\
and I think this video is the living proof of that......

The solo was kinda cool but the rest of the song is just.......horrible

I liked a lot VR at the begining, their show was one of the best I've seen. But almost 1 year later, it's becoming boring. That's why I said "nothing special".
To compare, 4 years later, the blues and madagascar still give me feeling

love the song
video is ok
but VR definetly has a sound. and it rocks.
i'm sorry. i love the new gnr. i love the old gnr. and i love vr

but these 3 entities don't have anything to do in the same sentence. why ?

One is an OLD band that doesnt exist anymore
The other is not a band yet, has no cd out and doesnt exist yet.
The last one is real band with an album and a life.

how come when slash comes on a the screen with a guitar and a solo is about to start, i get goose bumps.
god, he rules :)

Now I love just about everything Slash touches and I'm not here to say that VR is a cheap knock off of GnR or Stone Temple Pilots, I think they're great and the music is better than most everything else coming out right now, but Come On, Come In didn't really do anything for me.

I don't know what it was, but it felt like the music didn't match the lyrics, the lyrics didn't match the video, the video didn't match that weird ass dancing they all seemed to be trying to do, and nothing matched the solo.

I'm not a musical expert by any stretch of the mind, but that song just seemed poorly put together, but that's just my opinion.

It's cool to have your own opinion on VR and I respect it but they aren't ever going to sound like GNR..  I don't think they ever wanted to and if they ever did, it would be the opposite of opinions, people would start saying they sound too much like GNr they should have their own sound.  I personally like the VR sound, it's different now a days to have a great Rock N Roll band that kicks my ass when I blast them in my car or at home.

absolutely not, i think so too. axl was what made guns n' roses so great, and slash contributed alot to it. without him they are helpless to receive the same acclamation as with guns n' roses.
and not only that, scott weiland lacks everything axl's got. voice, stage persona, that "aura" about him that made him the centre of attention once he walked in a room and the mystery that is axl rose. weiland's a washed up junkie and slash and duff know it, they're just trying to stick together as a band once again and pick up the pieces from their former careers.

The sooner you people realize that this is NOT Guns N Roses, the sooner you will stop comparing VR to GNR.  Yes, Axl may have been the mostly the center of GNR, I agree as I am an Axl and old GNR fan.  When I hear VR and when I see VR in concert, I don't expect a GNR show.  I expect a VR show and let me tell you seeing them live and seeing Scott in action before my eyes, 12 rows away center was enough for me to see that Scott can take a crowd and make then his own, he ruled that stage along WITH, Slash, Duff, Matt and Dave.   He doesn't need to be the center of attention, they as a band make them what they are, not one person, that is what makes a band isn't it?  That is what I saw up on that stage.

i know they are 2 different bands. and that's cool that they have a new style that sets them apart from whatever they did in the past. but from a slash fan poin't of view. and i started playing cuz of him, i dunno it doesn't sound the same, nor right. some songs are way to diferent frm the slash i'm used to, such as this one, and i can't help to feel sad for this change in the way he aproaches the new music.

eh maybe it's not suppose to be centering around him like snakepit did or gnr did in guitar rock.. maybe when people will think vr they won't be like known for solos that are long, they will just be known as a rocking band.. I am not let down because I know slash can make them longer or do other things, there must be a reason why he isn't..

Maybe the reason he isn't doing long, long solo's or sounding like he did in GNR is because he didn't want to take that from GNR.? I think when you were in a band as big as GNR was and now you are trying to be your own band, he is doing everything he can not to portray or bring anything from GNR into VR.? I don't know much about guitar playing and I am not going to try to say I do.? I agree that some of his solo's with GNR were absolutely amazing but I still think that he is playing awesome guitar, it just may be in a different way.

Not a chance.  Since when did Slash give a fuck about radio?  That's what producers are for.  Remember the Sweet Child O' Mine single?  No solo at the end on the radio edit.  Some of the solo's were there, but they were severely cut down.  Slash is writing how he feels like writing nowadays, and there's nothing bad about it.

Its obvious that VR are a band that just takes a few listens to really dig something.

first two listens I hated CB, now over a year later I still listen to it very regularly

I hated Come On Come In first two listens and Now I pray it is on the album

I love this song, it kicks so much ass now and sounds nothing like Slither, I dont know where that came from.

Verdict that fair and true:

Sounds like Dirty Little Thing because Scott keeps on changing his vocal stylings, it does not work well. The chorus is weak. Slash's solo (whats up with that?!?) is terrible, I mean really awful. The video looks like the Switchfoot video for the Spiderman soundtrack, its really nothing special. It's also very cheesy, whats up with the backround? And why do they show us the inside of the amps? Its just plain bad

Rating: 2/10

Well you aren't very good.

/the chorus is weak? Why?
Who cares about the fucking Video? It's the song that matters.
I hate Videos and I think they ruin the song as a whole, but this video is pretty cool.
The amp layout is sweet.

This is Slashs next best solo since Slither.

You must have fucking hearing problems then if you think it's one of Slash's best solos on CB

wait what? this song isnt on CB.

Best solos on CB
slither (which was the most kickass, Subtle and short, but kickass)
Sucker train
fall to peices
Dirty little thing
Loving the alien
and you got no right

But this solo is pretty much equal to the Slither solo. in regards to kickass-ness.

And is that all you are going to reply to. Don't critique a song around here unless you have some valid reasons.
You just come off like an ignorant ass.

Yeah but for some people a solo or riff etc. is about the feel of it or if they like how it sounds. Not how diffifcult it is to play.

Just listened to the song and watched the video again (which I downloaded) after not listening to it for a while and I'm starting to hear things in this song that I didn't really pick up with the first few listens.

I really liken it to Set Me Free and Slither as far as having a killer groove (particularly Matt & Duff) and the band are really playing on that groove they built on songs like SMF.
And despite what others think and have said here, I think it's a really strong song and the video shows them all in pretty good light too, they're all really rocking out which is kinda the whole point isn't it? : ok:

Yeah, I think they all look pretty damn cool in the video and I hear different stuff too. First of all I think the solo kicks ass and I am not sure what some of you are looking for besides just to trash it, but I'll take it? : ok: . The other thing that keeps sticking out are Dave's effects which are just awesome. I am hearing more and more Dave all the time.. I really think Slash has found his first worthy partner since Izzy... Although Dave and Izzy are two totally different beasts....

The song is great after all, its kinda different of Contraband, and that explains that the next album might be great...  lets wait and see....

Carlos, I think the new album is going to be something special.  I think they will go out to make the best album the can.  Not that they didn't for CB, but that was different since the music was written and the lyrics were added after Scott joined.  Now its going to be like a real band.  I have VERY high expectations for the next album.  I think this song rocks too!!

Smoking Guns, man, you are right, the next album is going to be really cool, i cant wait...
it will be amazing to listen to Scott writing songs with the rest of the band...

by the way I would like to tell everybody that  Velvet revolver is an evolving band, that is what Axl should learn from them.... Perfection is a matter of experience and mistakes...
