Thanks younggunner...
The guy seems to dislike Smashing Pumpkins a lot.  :hihi:
What he would say about the new songs? Madagascar don't seem to have "simple lyrics, which spoon-feed the meaning to the listener".

That's a great article! The writer wrote down what I am feeling (eventhough this article is 5 years old). Too bad there aren't many real journalists, most journalists are people hiding behind style....

Axl we still need you out there!

" Axl getting married - with his real-life girlfriend at the time, Erin Everly, playing his wife ("November Rain"). "

Wasn't that Stephanie Seymour at this time?

lol!

hey I'm a fan of the Pumpkins.. Adore is one of my favorite albums ;)
as I am of Nirvana AND Pearl Jam --  I mean.. c'mon Ten" *rock*
but some of that stuff was truly LOL hilarious:

"But the far most painful example of unclear singing is Eddie Vedder's lazy mumbling of the words to Pearl Jam's most musically accomplished song, "Yellow Ledbetter." Vedder's vocal performance on that song passes for an imitation of Mumbles from Dick Tracy."

and wow... 5 years later... so much of what he wrote still stands true:

"Perhaps Axl's seclusion has allowed popular music to become much more diverse and exciting. But you can't help but feel something is missing when you listen to a modern "rock" station.

It is no coincidence that we have been bombarded with reunions, or, what one writer in this magazine more aptly termed "resurrections" of classic rock bands, that were amazing in their day, but now should stay in their nursing homes"
.
 :hihi:

Yeah, it's a good article.  Exposes the vapidness behind a lot of alternative rock.  Not sure about the Wordsworth / Axl thing.  Hell, never never thought I'd write those two names in the same sentence.  I wonder how they'd collaborate?

I wander'd lonely as a cloud,
Deep into the jungle hills
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of dancing daffodils;

They danced with Mr Brownstone.
They danced with sparkling glee
But everyone needs time alone
So I moved back to the city.

For oft when on my couch I lie
In mean and evil mood,
I think of you that could be mine,
And 'tis the pain of solitude

But then my heart with heroin fills,
And I dance again with daffodils
