Title: What would you like to see on the next VR cd?
Post by: November Rain 91 on December 10, 2004, 12:15:36 AM
What would you like to see on the next Velvet Revolver CD? To start it off, I would like longer, better solos, and perhaps a little more diversity among the songs. CB sounded a little so much the same (still liked it though? :peace: ) Anything in the sense of lyrics, instrumentals, length/types of songs, etc. etc.

better production and more Slash and I would like to see Scott take his time with the lyrics. They are good on CB but not as good as even the last STP record

More and longer solos. Backing vocals from the rest of the band. Better and less repetitive lyrics. Better production. Especially Scott's vocals. God they are horrible on Contraband.

Oh yeah, and Axl. :hihi: ;D

Actually a guess appearance from Izzy would be cool. Especially if he contributes a song.

yeah, not so many repetitive riffs, and the volume of slash's guitar HAS  to be higher than Kushner's !
of course longer solos and a little more diversity and experimentation.

I really enjoyed the album ,I think matt's talents show on his drumming..

If I had to say something for a new album different then this is I would like the solos to be longer.. Take dirty little thing, slash is whaling away and the solo keeps building up, I wish it would just keep going for a bit..

Being I liked this album so much I would just say extended solos, I want them to keep the rock edge like this and keeep the same type of ballads..

its not that kushner is loud...he can be louder too. it's that Slash is too low but maybe they wanted to showcase duff andf matt more than they did in gnr

All that was mentioned before, longer guitar solos, and as far as the production goes, one name....Mike Clink

Yeah, mine too.I think they should think of another prducer.I mean, how can you expect an album full of long and cool solos  and really hard-rock-blues oriented music with Korn and Stain?s prducer??
Personally I would like to see more Set Me Free oriented songs, you know...

Baby Slash//

I wud like the album to sound sumtin like they sound in concert...by that i mean, take set me free for example...they tear it up at the end in concerts.!!

I hope the lyrics aren't so repetitive and that slashs solos are longer

I agree 100%!!!
they play the songs they feel are their best songs and most fun to play. The problem is those songs like Big Machine for example don't sound as good on the record. It is imperative that they change producers and mixing so that Slash can be Slash and they could sound exactly the way they sound live and all you need for that is a simple mixer. Not Andy Wallace and not Josh changing songs around and taking out Slash solos.

Another example I want to note is at the end of spectacle, Instead of letting slashs guitar be the loudest in the mix..they have repetitive vocals, I think they cud have had an extended outro...It cud have been like the outro of Nightrain!!

haha thats exactly what I think about at the end of Spectacle! how much it sounds like nightrain but without the lead. You're right there should've been lead guitar over those awesome circular Nightrain notes!

I was thinking the same thing about Spectacle and Nightrain lol. That is the only real wink link on the album for me is that song but I don't mind it as much now.

I have also realized that their really are solos on the album and some good ones too. I am not sure what I was looking for at first but STB, DLT, Headspace, Do It For the kidsSlither and all the ballads have good solos... Some are short and song slike have Set Me free and Illegal I also have mini solos. I think I was just too critical at first. This album at this point in time is amazing me with it's energy......

A different producer because......it seems the guitars, especially Slash was buried in the mix at times.

Less effects, with clean LP lead, rhythm, bass and drums and minimal use of the fucking megaphone  : ok:
