Tommy Stinson Announces U.K. & U.S. Tour Dates; Solo Album Nears Completion

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2003--Tommy Stinson, founding member and bass player for the seminal rock group The Replacements and bass player of the new Guns N' Roses, is taking it to the people this summer with an upcoming solo tour, which will include dates in the U.K. and the U.S.

On break from Guns N' Roses until September, Stinson will perform at the Mercury Lounge in New York on July 1st en route to the U.K., where he is set to open for Artemis recording artist Jesse Malin, including July 7th in Liverpool, July 8th in Birmingham and July 9th in London. At the end of August, Stinson will kick off a 3-week tour along the East Coast and Midwest U.S. along with Hearbox Records recording artists, The Figgs.

Stinson is currently putting the finishing touches on 16 new songs for an upcoming solo record. Primarily recorded over two months in a studio owned by friend Charles Thompson (aka Frank Black), the album includes contributions from A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese, Jason Freese on Saxophone, Catholics and former Jack Logan guitarist Dave Phillips, former Perfect drummer Gersh, and GNR guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed. The untitled album is currently being shopped to labels.

Performing in an acoustic setting, Stinson will be previewing some of the new songs on this upcoming solo tour. Additionally, he will include material from his two previous solo bands, Bash & Pop and Perfect, as well as a few select cover songs.
