Slash comments on new Snakepit album
"It's awesome," raved SLASH about his in-the-works record with SNAKEPIT, now laying down basic tracks with producer JACK DOUGLAS, and describing the sound as "heavy rock 'n' roll." The guitarist, who'd said he'd just been released from jail after an altercation with "his old lady" that he didn't want to discuss, was on hand to attend the premiere of bandmate RYAN ROXIE's Club American Style, a Sunday evening event at the Gig on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. Ryan has put together a great cover band called GLAMNATION with ERIC SINGER, STEFAN ADIKA, DEREK SHERINIAN (who has a new solo album out called Planet X), and former Snakepit singer ERIC DOVER that covers everything from DAVID BOWIE to T-REX, ELTON JOHN, and ALICE COOPER, with whom Roxie (whose original band DPM is about to get distribution for its remixed CD) and Singer will tour starting September 1. Until then--for the next four Sundays--the guys will don feather boas and glitter to cover songs like "Bang a Gong," "Suffragette City," "Be My Lover," "All the Young Dudes," "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting" and "Rock And Roll Part 2" (the GARY GLITTER song now revived in SAMMY HAGAR's "Mas Tequila"). Definitely worth checking out!
