A rock music fan who went missing two years ago after travelling to the US to see her favourite band has gone missing for a second time in America, police said today.
Kirsty Omerod, then aged 20, left her home in Newport, Gwent, in November 2002 to see Guns N’ Roses in Chicago, but disappeared.
Gwent Police were told by their American counterparts that she had been traced and had married and settled there.
But Kirsty, who has been using several aliases including the name Gemma Coronel, disappeared again some time last year, Gwent Police said.
Detective Sergeant John Giles said the file had been closed on Kirsty in Britain as she had been located in America.
But American authorities were continuing to investigate.
Mr Giles said: “Her parents were relieved that she had been located but they are obviously still concerned for her welfare.”
