Im definitely getting this...

"From the Publisher
The personal and musical history of Guns N' Roses is detailed in this revealing band biography. Timed to coincide with the highly anticipated release of Chinese Democracy, their first album in 10 years, this compelling account offers complete, updated information on the band's incredible past and current ambitions. New interviews with ex-band members, including lead guitarist Slash and bass player Duff, provide fresh revelations about the band's key players. Previously unpublished color photographs from the group's early days gathered from ex-members' personal collections offer an intriguing visualization of the band's past. "

Im sure its nothing, but its odd how confident they sound about the release of the album.

And the title struck me too, because it does seem that Guns N' Roses, despite the mentions here and there, has kind of been relatively forgotten.

Booker, good catch.  And I say that with all sincerity.  The whole thing about them sounding 'confident' about the album's release ties in with the theory (and its just a theory) that the publicity machine is turning its wheels.  Slowly, of course - but still turning.

The fact that its an 'unauthorized' bio doesn't really mean much to me - as it would make more sense right now to get the 'buzz' going through unofficial methods, anyways.  (Things like the IRS deal with Trunk, for instance)  Its not inconceivable at all that Interscope paid someone at the book Publisher like 5K to include that little line about Democracy.

It's unathorized, so it will most likely be a collection of past interviews and things we have already read.  Nothing new here.

But let me say, I have read tons of good unauthorized biographies.  However, with GNR, I doubt any anauthorized bio would be good.  Axl is definitly not talking, and the ex members would fear talking about it because they won't want to hurt a potential future reunion.

Also, Danny Sugarman's book "Appetite For Destruction", was a bore because all he did was analyze and expand on the little information he had to work with.  The book was talking about mythology comparisons for the most part.  That just shows that if there was barely any info to use then, then there's not much more info that can be used now.

I've sent an email to the author.. (at least, I HOPE he's the author.) - if he is, and he provides any more info on the book, I'll share it when I get it.

Anyone else notice on the cover they spelled the word "unauthorized"  - unauthorised?

Usually publishing companies at least spell the words on the cover right.

The book was written by an author in the UK.  In the UK, that is the common spelling of the word.  Therfore, it kind of is spelled right, from a certain point of view Smiley

"Unauthorised" is the right spelling of the word... bloody Yanks. Smiley

Seriously, though, I doubt a publishing company (especially one publishing an unauthorised biography of the band) would have any information on the release date of Chinese Democracy. I mean, most of the people at the record company that's supposed to be releasing the damn thing don't know when it's coming out. I think the publishers or the bookstore are just trying to capitalise on the publicity around CD.

I don't understand why B&N has two release dates...it doesn't make sense.
