I'm announcing with deep regret that Phil Caivano, guitarist, singer and my long time friend has decided to "move on" from Monster Magnet.

Phil joined the band in 1998 and has been a solid contributor since day one. No one I know has ever been more dedicated to his craft. He is a unique and talented individual who excels at everything he does and I wish him all the best.

Phil himself will let you know what he's doing in his own good time, but for the record, this is an amicable split.

Needless to say, there is only one Phil Caivano so replacing him is impossible. However Magnet is auditioning guitarists to fill the rhythm slot and I'll let you all know what's up. In the meantime,I'll be playing guitar. This change in line up will in no way effect the output of Monster Magnet, as I am writing the new album now and things are on schedule.

Phil is and will always be welcome as a member of the Monster Magnet family.

Rock is alive! Love, Dave.

yo assholes...i picked up Monster Magnet's "Dopes to Infinity" a while ago and...it sucks.  Granted, this is my first MM album but i was less than impressed. what gives?  You sing their praises and I'm pretty well versed yet this album sounded like third rate nu-metal.

Firstly they never have and never will be nu-metal.  Now at the end of the day we all have different tastes, not everyone is gonna like them, i personally think Dave Wyndorf is a lyrical genius and they put together some great tunes...sorry amazing tunes but their a unique taste, best tunes on that album are Dead Christmas, Negasonic Teenage Warhead & Dopes To Infinity.  Probably the most accesable album for new fans is Powertrip if you don't like that you may as well give up.

We leave 1 week from today (August 24th) for Spain for the Azkena Festival, can't wait ! We're practicing 3 to 5 times a week for the new record (the material is sounding execellent and it's fun stuff too). Probably hit the studio in october Finally an update from Ed Mundell...looks like the album will be more likely to arrive 2006 now though....fuck rant

Go here to listen to the song Keep Believin which is the one i saw on Scuzz.
Choose either Radio Edit or EP version.

Still cant find a site but apparently they are from Dublin!

Just found there website and according to a few posts ive read they are not from Dublin but Northern Ireland...Which makes things even better!

I did listen to it.

Basic stoner, very 70?s. After one listening i?m not a biggest fan, but it was easy to listening and i liked the voice of the singer. Background music to me.

Monster Magnet Studio Report, Parts 1-4 by Guitarist Ed Mundell

PT1 (20th October...)
Hello out there...

Pleased to report that Jager Bomb Bob remembered all the
new tunes just in time for the start of basic tracks...
we're moving right along here in LA---12 hour days
of ROCK...
ED

PT2 (24th October...)
Hello again everybody...

Pleased to report back to y'all that we are just about
done with basic tracks, and tomorrow we move into
another studio and the real fun starts...laying down
some guitars...Bob and Jim have been playing their
asses off...the drums and bass sound phenomenal!
all the best...ED

PT3 (2nd November....)
Hey all...

Pleased to once again report our progress
to y'all...
as of about an hour ago all of the rhythm guitars
were completed...
so now we move onward and outward into the lead
guitar portion of our little project...
noteworthy moments so far---finally locating and retrieving
jimmy bags from the clutches of Lee Majors and Dabney Coleman...
atomic jager bomb bob says no coming in hot with some
extra percussion that was much needed...
assistant engineer chris's haloween costume (jesus fucking christ---more on that later)...
and producer matt hyde just being producer matt hyde...
also, ice cube is in studio "b"...and he is totally cool...
Rock out...
ED

PT4 (4th November....)
Ok, another quick installment of the ongoing
"STUDIO REPORT"...

It's the last day in the studio...we're taking a little break to
relax our ears and listen to the stuff with fresh ears before going
in for final vocals, and any guitars, percussion and fairy dust
we might have overlooked/it needs...
Atomic Jager Bomb Bob Says No is looking forward to another
jager bomb...Jimmy Bags has brought in a Theramin...
i just layed down a few more backwards guitars just for the hell of it...
blah blah blah...
well kids, that's it for now...we'll post pictures as soon as Karen goes
through them...she documented the whole thing for good or ill...
Rock out...
