OK, to pass the time...what's the best/worst cover versions of any song...
I vote for Cat Power's superior reading of Satisfaction, Oasis''s "I am the Walrus,Fiona Apple "Across the Universe", Phish "revolution #9" , Social Distortion "Ring of Fire"
In the bad corner, you've got Britney with the same song, William Shatner with Mr Tambourine Man, Tori Amos with Teen Spirit and Orgy with Blue Monday, the guy from Quiet Riot's "Welcome to the Jungle"
and especially...
"Sweet Child Of Mine" by Sheryl Crow
she had no, absolutely no fucking place to cover a song done by G 'N' F'n R!!! She obviously did this song to get some money between albums. What's worse than Sheryl Crow ruining a classic metal ballad, was the movie it was for: Big Daddy. And don't tell me that movie was funny, cause it blew serious Stallion Sheath, one of Sandlers bad movies.
God, a lot of rubbish...

the worst cover I have ever heard would have to be the ataris ( i dunno if that's spelt right ) covering Skid Row's I Remember You...way to friggen ruin a good song.
the best....I dunno...I really haven't heard to many cover songs gnr's cover of Sympathy For The Devil was pretty good.

Worst:

Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love
Guns N' Roses - Attitude
NoFx - Last Caress
Good:
Barenaked Ladies - Lovers in a Dangerous Time
Limp Bizkit - Faith (I'll give em this one)
Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams
Billy Idol - Mony Mony
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Dave Matthews Band - All Along The Watchtower (This is better than Jimi's IMO)

Yoshiki - Black Diamond (It's an instrumental version of Kiss' Black Diamond by a Japanese group, fantastic)
Theres many many more, just can't think of em right now.

Worst: The
? (forgot the name, a new teenie "rock" band) doing Don Henley's "The Boys Of Summer". I never believed one could actually ruine such a beautiful song THAT much! They even changed the lyrics to "...out on the road today, I saw a Black Flag sticker on Chevrolet" or something! Absolutely terrible! Avoid this at any cost!
it's the Ataris that sing that song..the same band that ruined the Skid Row song.
