I haven't heard don't cry or patience on the radio for a very very long time... especially on the crap ass pop station in my city... makes me smile that 10+ years later gnr is getting played in between nicklesack, and michelle branch

I think they're being played more for a reason. I don't know exactly what it is, but I don't think it's just a coincidence because too many people have been hearing them way more.

I think a big part of it is a renewed respect for GNR, especially the Appetite-era GNR. Suddenly we're seeing the album and certain tracks high up on various all-time lists. I think people are starting to go, "hey, those guys were incredible for a little while." And radio programmers are starting to treat them like a short-lived but important peer of bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, etc.

I'm also vaguely suspicious that it may be part of a priming process to begin promotion of the new band as the *potential* record nears us.

If I was a label, and I had this old band that had totally re-configured and was trying to develop a sort of "these guys are really important" buzz, I'd elbow the corporations (Clear Channel esp) and ask them if they wouldn't mind playing a little more GNR, just to raise the recognition factor.

Or perhaps because we are so desperate for CD we'll take any opportunity to read into something positive... some kind of sign....

or perhaps the planets are aligning and soon we will have CHINESE DEMOCRACY

In the last few months I've noticed that they're playing tons more GNR songs on my local radio station The Wolf 101.5.

Usually they play WTTJ, Patience and Paradise City and sometimes KOHD.

I usually hear one or two of these songs daily on this radio station while I'm at work or on my way to work or going home.

It's fucking awesome!!!!! yes ok smoking beer drool
