I would've greatly preferred Duff and Izzy.

I started this a long while back and thought it might be intresting to see what people's opinions are now we have all heard VR's album.
My views haven't changed - i still think Duff N' Izzy should have handled vocals as was originally proposed, what is obvious now is how much publicity Scott has generated for the band which is deffinetly a plus for his inclusion - however my biggest complaint with the album is Scott's lyrics and Izzy would have given us far more of the GNR style.
Anyway now we know what Scott can do for VR, do u think he was the right choice or should they have gone with Izzy and Duff (or just Izzy) on vocals?

Definatly the right choice to go with Scott. I'll admit with VR he does hit alot of bad notes from what i have heard live. But hey it's rock n' roll, it's not meant to be perfect is it? I have heard enough of his work to know how good a frontman and singer/songwriter he is. He has a real cool presence about him. He hits that stage and it's exciting, thats what you want.
Duff is great man, he has a great-rough-punk-Black Death Vodka-voice. Nothing wrong with a bit of that but they needed someone very different to make this band more than a "side project".
Izzy - fantastic song-writer no one would dispute that. Although i havent heard any ( i don't think) his stuff since Ju-Ju hounds - which to be honest didn't do much for me. But i haven't seen his progression in songwriting - i am keen too though.
But i have been watching the old Illusions shows - particuarly Indiana '92 springs to mind and he was terrible to be honest. Axl saved the day when he joined in on the chorus' but no man, in my opinion, he doesn't have that lead singer quality. Which to be honest i think suits him for what he does - so fair enough to him.
Mike Patton would have been fantastic too, i have to agree with you there. My wishes from the start were for either Scott or Mike so i'm happy.

I would have prefered Duff N?Izzy, but if Izzy was there, why Dave on rithm guitar?Hell, I?d go for Duff (bass, vocals) Izzy (Vocals, rithm guitar) Slash(Lead Guitar) and Matt (or Steven) on drums.

I love Scott but I would have like dit more with Izzy on vocals. I just like Izzy's voice and lyrics more.
And while scott is a good frontman I don't understand how anyone can say he's the best frontman around right now.

The question is if Izzy really is a good frontman? A rock 'n roll band sucks without that.

I like Scott alot as a frontman and I think he has a great voice. I do like Duff and Izzy's singing alot tho, and having izzy in VR would have been great solely for the fact that we would be able to get our hands on what he is doing unlike his latest album.

As much as i would have liked Duff n' Izzy i prefer Scott Weiland.
As singers Duff n' Izzy are great, they are a great combination together. But as frontmen neither match up to Scott Weiland.
Velvet Revolver needed a great frontman to set themselves apart from the other rock groups today. And Weiland was perfect choice and has molded well with Slash, Duff, Matt and Dave.

Live yes - but on the album is an enigmatic frontman needed? Scott's got the personality and the..er...moves for the live scene and can get the band the publicity but i'm far more concerned with what it sounds like in my cd player - i'll take an album that only sold 5 copies but is pure genius over a platinum selling but average offering. Izzy N' Duff may not have made the band huge but they would have made a better album musically of that i have no doubt - maybe Izzy would have pushed Slash to reach his potential, i believes Slash is capable of significantly more than he showed on Contraband.

I don't kow if Slash is "holding back", probably seems that way because he solo's alot less than with Guns.

Lame tired post. Scott is the singer of VR and they wouldnt be half as good with Duff or Izzy singing.
