War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

What's a real quote anyway?
An easily exploitable opening, that. Consider it a charitable donation to the Fatuity Foundation.
Anyway, a "real" (God forgive me for my laziness this morning) quote is, in my opinion, something worthy of
being
quoted. And I suppose the determination of worth would come from the quote's inherent capacity to give a moment's pause to the reader as they pondered whatever erudite insight, clever wordplay or divergent line of thinking that was contained within. Unlike say, this:
Change demands blood.
That doesn't even make sense. Change (I assume you're not talking about nickels and dimes) doesn't necessarily demand blood. Besides, there's no setup, no elbow room for one to cogitate. It's just a murky and generalized statement in the guise of something entirely more profound. In other words, it's shit. Savvy?

Oh believe me, I savy.
So lets get down to it.
How is it any of your business what I choose to express?
How does that effect anything in your life? To the extent that you have to resort to childish defiance of an expression that doesn't fit your personal preference, and then attempt to defend that behaviour with superflous big words. For what? Knowledge and intelligence does not equal right.
Take care of your own life man. I'm sure you could use your abilities more effeciently than trying to appear superior on a message board.

... Right. You want a more direct reply? Don't post rubbish quotes. Savvy?
Mrs Joe was a very clean housekeeper, but had an exquisite art of making her cleanliness more uncomfortable and unacceptable than dirt itself. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and some people do the same by their religion.

You just couldn't resist?
Let me give you a more direct reply; A quote isn't rubbish just because you think so. You want this to be a 'famous whatever said this' feel free to make that
clear
.
Until then, butt out.

Well, aren't we little miss misses the point. You see, the relevance of fame is a concution all of your own. Well, maybe it's an assumption; maybe that's even worse!, ho ho.
While my thinking so may not make it so, it doesn't make it wrong, either.
You know, you have all the makings of a girl about to get herself in a tangle over the subjective nature of such a topic, and it's something that I'd rather avoid. You see, while there is an element of the subjective (I prefer to think of it as preference), it is still possible to make a rough list of what contributes to the worth of a particular quote; relevance, impact, substance, along with level of intelligence and such. It's possible to go on, but you get the idea. While general consensus don't make no thing right, yuk yuk, I'm sure that were we to see quoted
Sheep aren't men.
-Me-
you would most likely find yourselves reach the same level of agreement as you would over the musical merit of me and my dustbin. Trashcan, if you will.
Of course, this is all based on an assumption as to why people bother to read, or contribute in, this thread in the first place. Maybe my expressed opinion is based on my preference with regard to the reason that I read this thread; maybe you'd have a riot giving the good ol' '... person above you thread' a once over.
