Dedicated to 'someone special' (you know who you are  Wink)

Alright!!  I modified it especially for Sky72 who likes his homies on the Down Low.

This one is dedicated to Reagan:

Men are convinced of your arguments, your sincerity, and the seriousness of your efforts only by your death.  -- Albert Camus

And this one goes out to me and my insane thesis:

For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.   Undecided

btw.........my quote wasn't dedicated to you............ no

I did not assume that.  In all likelihood, given your last dedication to someone special, your dedication was made to a certain Punk on this forum.  I can make one to to you even if you do not make one for me.

btw.........my quote was meant to be light hearted.......... but I guess you did not perceive it that way.

In light of his remarks concerning various ethnic races of the world, this song is dedicated to someone who is, oddly enough, special to me in a painful way.  I understand him more than he'll ever know.

How many times can you put me down
Till in your heart you realise
If you choose to criticise
You choose your enemies

Everything that I say and do
In your eyes is always wrong
Tell me where do I belong
In a sick society

You're no different to me
You're no different
No different to me

Is that blood that's on your hand from your democracy
[/b]

In all likelihood, given your above response to me, your inference is incorrect.................. yes

I can make one to to you even if you do not make one for me.

But of course..............!!!!!.........don't let me stop you!!!!!!.......please, feel free to dedicate as many quotes to me as your heart desires...........

btw.........my quote was meant to be light hearted.......... but I guess you did not perceive it that way.

Bad guess.............. no

Anyway.....................

I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe;
I told it not, my wrath did grow."

.............k..............

rofl  You have set a new record for highest ratio of dots to alphabet characters.  For this, I reward you with a question.  The physicist, Enrico Fermi, was famously known for quizzing his grad. students with guesstimation questions such as 'How many piano tuners are there in New York?'

How many MCT dots reside in Jarmo's HTGTH hard drives?   Guesstimate, my dear.

As many as that? That would be an infinity!  Cheesy  To be more precise, it would be a subset of a 'countably many' set with cardinality = Aleph Naught.   Now, if Jarmo could invent a quantum computer in his spare time, then my heart could dedicate a continuum of quotes to you, thereby belonging to the set of 'uncountably many'.
Just imagine!  The quote thread would exist as a continuum!

*cough*  You did say we were in Wonderland.

Congratulations Doc.............. ok.........you've just uncovered one of the key points to effectively defending oneself in matters of written disquisition.......

I should like to point out though, that stating such mundane truths makes you an absolute bore.............. Undecided.......do you think I haven't been here before.........?........

You say I am keen on taking evasive action behind a wall of words...............well..........catch me..........

It would certainly beat the hell outta the 'mundane truth game'...................

Why is truth so mundane to you?  We are truly not at all similar.

edit:

Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty - a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture.

A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

Why is truth so mundane to you?

Truth, in and of itself is not mundane. It's the pretentious presentation of truth at an inopportune time that is.

I like that, Drew.  But I wonder if Hawthorne would feel the same way if he knew about the Internet.  It can be liberating to wear two faces - and who is to say which is the true face, and which is deception.

"When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge." - Albert Einstein

Feynman was great at that.  In addition to furthering the field of physics, he found time to learn to play the drums, take art lessons, learn Spanish, experiment with drugs, and frequent the seedy strip clubs of Pasadena   Grin

Most commencement speeches at graduation ceremonies are yawn inducing, but here is a snippet of Feynman's (pardon the long quote, but it's really funny):

One time I sat down in a bath where there was a beautiful girl sitting with a guy who didnt seem to know her.  Right away I began thinking, "Gee! How am I gonna get started talking to this beautiful nude babe?"

I'm trying to figure out what to say, when the guy says to her, "I'm uh, studying massage.  Could I practice on you?"

"Sure", she says.  They get out of the bath and she lies down on the massage table nearby.

I think to myself, "What a nifty line! I can never think of anything like that!"  He starts to rub her big toe.  "I think I feel it", he says.  "I feel a kind of dent - is that the pituitary?"

I blurt out, "You're a helluva long way from the pituitary, man!"

They looked at me, horrified - I had blown my cover - and said, "It's reflexology!"

I closed my eyes and appeared to be meditating.

-- Caltech commencement address, 1974

It's his gift of irreverence that allows him to get away with talking about nude girls in a graduation speech.

I really like this one:
