Bought a ticket to the Czech Rep golden circle. Will be my 6th show I think   Grin

Nice! Cheesy

A bit different place for GN'R after playing Prague on previous visits.

The hype and advertisment are really good here in Bulgaria. All my friends are coming. I was in a situation where I had to explain that I'm not making the tickets and there is a website for that so they can enter and buy one themselves. It is like "get me a ticket we know you're a fan".  Grin

Really cool.

We brought our 15-year old son to Guns at Copenhell in 2022. He's been a fan since he was little and plays the guitar himself. It was an emotional evening to say the least.. he/we sang along to every song! They played allmost 3 (!) hours and a lotta the "draught beer festival" crowd (as I like to call them) got annoyed. Some started to file out. Also, one of their extra songs was... Prostitute! Second to last I think. Ha! No one knew it! And we were loving it!

probably not helped by going on sale 2 weeks before Christmas when a lot of people will have their disposable income tied up, wouldn't be a surprise to see the tickets start to move in Jan/Feb when people have got money again

Can't expect a immediate sell-out, it'll be just fine.

Looking forward to U.S. dates being released eventually.  My oldest son had his first GNR experience at the Bridgeschool benefit... but first real show was 2016 Vegas reunion show.....was there when I got the microphone at San Jose show.... a lot of great experiences.  Looking forward to many more.  My son has seen them 5 times before the age of 19...didn't see them until I was 24 in Vegas at the Joint

Same here in Denmark.

We're gonna wait it out and see what this tour is first - what the idea is.

If it's like 2011-2023 (nostalgia tours) or if there is a major change this time and/or perhaps even a new album.

We'll sit it out if it's yet another nostalgia tour.

This part I don't exactly understand.

What do you expect would happen with the release of new material?

They put out four singles between 2021 and 2023, all of them were played in 2023. Plus fan favorites like Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up and even Anything Goes.

2011 was really the first proper tour after the release  of “Chinese Democracy”, they played a lot of new songs I’m not sure why your referencing that as a nostalgia tour.

I also don’t understand what that term means in this context.  The band is in their 60’s, with a 40 year history, what songs do you expect them to play?  The same can be said for every band in their age range or even older, Stones,Metallica, AC/DC etc, are those nostalgia tours?  I guess, but I don’t look at it that way, they are just tours to me.If any of those bands only played new songs and skipped the hits, they’d get booed off the stage an hour in.

Supply and demand and all that.   They’ve  toured alot since 2016, so demand is obviously going to be down a bit.  I still think these will be full stadiums, they just don’t have the surge of people fighting for tickets the second they go on sale.  Same thing happened with Metallica, i didn’t have to bust my ass to get a ticket immediately and the stadium was packed both nights and that tour did extremely well, top 10 of 2024 or something.

Saw a few shows this year when GN'R didn't tour. Depeche Mode (4 songs from latest album), AC/DC (2 songs from the latest album) and the Smashing Pumpkins (1 from latest album, 3 from the previous album).

The only ones I saw that didn't stick to this formula were Slash and Duff. Their shows focused on their latest releases. Obviously they weren't playing in stadiums.

I guess what I find lacking is a greater sense of purpose and "presentation". Take Metallicas recent worldwide 72 Seasons tour; the look, the setup, the variations with the daunting "no repeat weekend" concept. The yellow and black theme. It was so fresh and it challenged both the band and the audience.

The GNR tours (2011-2023) have felt very much the "same". Even with the semi-reunion. When your discography isn't as big, it is harder to shake things up - and I get that. It has felt very "jukeboxian" to me since that first couple of touring years with Chinese AFTER the album came out (2009-2010). They did indeed shake things up.

However, I have a feeling that what I want... is not what I am gonna get  Wink

And that's actually fine  Smiley

Just gonna wait it out and see before we make arrangements.

Bodhi - I believe the Chinese tour started in 2009. I saw them in 2010 - twice.

I also recently saw AD/DC. We flew o Amsterdam. Bucketlist show for us - and it was great but mostly because they (well, Brian) made it through. Shed a little tear - meant so much. They were scheduled to play three songs from their latest (and good!) album, but only played two. It didn't matter. Was our first and probably only time seeing them.

Ah ok, it started here in the states in late 2011 I believe, that why I was confused on that.  Either way they did a lot of new songs on that tour.

I also totally get your point on Metallica, they really do push the new record and there is no mistaking what album they are promoting when you go to the shows, they have always done a great job with that.

Same experience for me with other shows I’ve gone to.

Also the Slash and Duff thing makes perfect sense, side projects draw a more niche, die hard audience.  They don’t have to worry about catering to a general audience, the super fans will never complain about getting some newer or more obscure songs.  Slash has practically dropped all GNR songs from his set since rejoining the band, and the crowd is still very into it.

Ok. Fair enough. You think playing two shorter shows in the same venue on two nights is better than one.

You want a gimmick. Like "we're playing in the round", "we're celebrating Album X by playing it in full" or "we won't play the same songs on two nights".

But in reality most bands just call the tour something new, and still play about the same amount of "new" material as before.

I do wonder what the reaction would be if GN'R played two hour shows, excluded some of their hits and mixed up the setlists. For example, you wouldn't get Estranged at every show, or Nightrain etc.
