Wow, somebody over at MyGNR, yeah I go there, said that "what you get" saying is from back in the early days.

So... a quote from a 1985 concert flyer. I'm curious about the significance.

All the credits to the MyGNR member. I only searched for it when you mentioned that it was from the early days.

What? You mean it wasn't the band making fun of their fans? It was an obscure reference to something on a flyer from 1985 that described GN'R then and still describes them to this day?

Come to think of it, it'll be the band's first time being active during such an anniversary.

10th - 1995, inactive
20th - 2005, inactive
30th - 2015, inactive
40th - 2025, world tour?

AFD5-reunion ?

Just kidding...that's not what I want at all.
Chinese line-up is what I like.

But when they keep on doing what they did the last year is OK too.
Last tour I skipped but if it fits my schedule and my wallet I might go see them again.

Yeah, folks went there for a minute with the AFD5.  The thought doesn't really appeal to me either.  Although I do think there is something to Steven's drumming that adds a spark to some of the songs.

I miss the Chinese line-up too.  Interesting band.  I'm on the fence about seeing them again.  Would like to support them but I'm not good with big stadium tours and high ticket prices.

was having the ticket price discussion with someone the other day

it used to be that bands toured to promote a new release and that the recordings would make money and the tour itself would generate relatively little in comparison.

It seems to have reversed nowdays with streaming offering little money so ticket prices have increased way above inflation

well that and ticketmaster are assholes and price gouge in every conceivable way

It's a fair comment about ticket prices. The cost of food in the UK has gone up 2.5 to 3 times since the mid to late 80s. Tickets for a big band at Wembley would cost 10 to 25 pounds back then, so the increase in ticket prices over the years has been disproportionate

Yes, and I guess people who started thinking music should cost nothing, or less than a cup of coffee didn't think the industry would compensate for this loss of income somehow.

I don't think anybody is really to blame.  Businesses and governments lost money during the pandemic.  It's been passed onto current prices.  Younger people think they have more money/credit to spend on entertainment.  Tomorrow is a long way off for them.  The older crowd has a different view, tomorrow is coming up pretty quick.  We remember the old prices and we've seen that band.  The bucket list is still full.  Not a matter of not wanting to support a band but it's looking like an album is more in the price range.  At least from my view.

It's not always to validate spending that amount of money on a concert. I've been there myself. I had to skip seeing GN'R in 1993 because spending money on traveling to Stockholm and the ticket wasn't doable. Same thing in 2002 when there were no shows anywhere near me.

But then you have the ones who say things like "I will only go if _______ ". I mean, what are they waiting for? Some places might get shows on every tour, other places won't. Support live music while you can.

I don't get that either.  It's such a bummer when your favorite band comes through town and for whatever reason you are sitting at home while they are on stage.

Last year I gifted my brother a ticket to our favorite band.  He had to turn me down, couldn't walk that far or sit that long.  How many times had we passed them up because we were adulting?  This was the last time and he couldn't 'get on the bus'.
