You don't create a website just to have a website; there's always an underlying purpose or something to offer.
You can create a web site to just have a web site. I mean, who knows what it could be used for in the future, but you definitely could just create one to have one ready, in case you need one at some unknown point in the future.
/jarmo
yeah that's pretty much my point, I didn't say it was to sell a book tomorrow... but if you create a platform
it's not for nothing, and as you say, if Axl needed to express his feelings, he already had his Twitter account
(and f@ck Musk
)

To be honest, I don't know. I just don't jump to conclusions without any evidence other than "There
must
be a reason".

Agreed, although in a way, whenever someone does something isn't there always a reason, no matter how small right?
But, I get what you mean.
Heck, he might have realized the URL was available and thought....shit, I need to scoop that up before someone else does and then posts stupid shit about me.
(Political opponents do this all the time to each other - getting the URL's to their opponents' names, etc.)
Personally, I think he got bored one day and said . . . fuck it. I'm gonna make a website. Why not?
Or maybe, like others, he is leaving twitter (even tho he's not that active on it) and this gives him a new/different outlet to give shout outs or wish someone a happy birthday or whatever.
But, again, I do agree. I don't think it's worth thinking too deeply into it. It is what it is. He made a website. People do it all the time.

Are we sure Axl knows he's got a website? I know it's linked but he doesn't say too much on X and I don't think he has much interest in creating a site for himself. Wouldn't surprise me if it's one of those things he just doesn't care about.

I think so. I could be totally wrong.
But the fact that the web site links to his
only
official social media accounts, that alone serves a purpose.

I would think there's a purpose and Axl probably knows a site was being linked but I was wondering if it's one of those things that's more business related than a personal thing.

Personal business?
I'm guessing it's both. Any artist with a web site, it's there for their own sake.

It could mearly be a pointing website to drive traffic to his social media. Obviously having a little content to justify calling it a website rather than just a holding page. It would at least be available on a search engine page 1 at somepoint when typing his name/

There's plenty of fake accounts on social media like Facebook.
Then you have the ones who have the word official in their usernames but in reality are fan accounts.
His site only lists the Instagram, X and Tik Tok pages. Which hopefully gives at least some people a clue which accounts pretend to be affiliated with Axl but aren't.

You don't create a website just to have a website; there's always an underlying purpose or something to offer.
The question is, what is it? The quote featured on the site is exclusive and can't be found elsewhere, suggesting
it's a personal one that hasn't been shared before. if it's never been shared before, it definitely comes from somewhere:
either it's just for the site, or it comes from a song, or it comes... from a book.
or perhaps it's to introduce a new line of racing apparel, which seems unlikely...
I Dont think so. He is an artist, and a well known one. He could just have found out that he wanted his own website. There dont have to be a reason. And there is no sign this has anuthing to do with a book/bio etc. We havent head talks about that for ages..

Oh there's a purpose if it's just to keep somebody else from faking one. And I don't think Axl personally wants a website, he's not that vain or even into it. He wouldn't need a website to promote a book. It's a seller with the media behind it. Thing is, I can see Axl starting a book about his life, it's expected, but then losing interest. It would be best if somebody worked with him on it and didn't drag it out. But then again there's so much there, better to turn it into lyrics. How about a book of poetry/lyrics?

1) if the purpose is to keep somebody else from faking one, it would have done years ago, at the begining of the internet.
2) he personaly doesn't need a website, or probably haven't a big interest having one. as stated before, he already has Twitter to express himself.
3) so it's a record or publishing company thing, they made the website.
4) why do you thing a company spend time and money, even if it's a modest website? to promote something.
5) there are apparently legit sources who are talking about a book, even if you talk that with a grain of salt, there's no smoke without fire

I'm going with number 3.
GNR aren't the best at using the internet to promote themselves. As for number one, yes they should have done it years ago but number 2 didn't give give a shit. As for 3 and 4, there's not enough put into that site to have any faith a company using it is planning on something big. It was a waste of time but one of those have to things.
I haven't been back to the site since the initial glance. Have they added anything?
The only smoke I read was from the cranky, old man's site and you can't believe anything you read over there. Where did you read smoke?

they updated it with some youtube videos if I remember correctly, so not so much.
maybe they just made the website to push links to avoid having the "sexual assault case"
appearing in the first Google page, because I just realise it's the case here in France.
I'm not a SEO specialist so it's just another guess

Unless the sole reason was to have a site.
Which some found hard to believe.

I'll go with that reasoning too. For now doesn't seem like anything is happening with it but it could later on.
Jarmo, you're good with running websites, you could offer to take it on and make it look better.
As it is, Axl deserved better even if he doesn't care.
