I thought it was a really good show. It was a stellar start, and that carried them through. The crowd looked like they were enjoying it, and there's alot of positive posts on Efestivals from people at the gig.

General consensus from the people that were there seems to be that he sounded fine, not as strong as before but that being understandable due to being in his 60s, the only actually critical review i've seen of the performance so far was complaining about too many guitar solos
I saw one in the telegraph making fun of how he looks.

Good review here:
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/jun/25/guns-n-roses-at-glastonbury-review-pyramid-stage?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&fbclid=IwAR24V3T-jr0cYJlGjMBptnqJIipE3MLJ_vbgZTMZ4ZepkN50ExSVe1Spdjw
I've seen a few videos. The band is tight, Axl is in a happy place, enjoying himself and the crowd seems to be having a blast.
He's not 32 anymore, the guy's 60 plus. He still moves and sings well.

sometimes football twitter gives you absolute gems
'Axl Rose is a 61 year old man & covered more yards during a 2 hour set at Glastonbury than Naby Keita did over five years at Liverpool.'

Axl is hanging out even with Dave Grohl, and they were foos
in the past.
But Axl can not solve and clear out his situation with Izzy, that is strange.

Not strange at all…issues with Nirvana were surface level issues…probably had no problem with most of the band…Izzy and Axl go way back so any fracture of the relationship probably cuts much deeper on both sides.

I managed to get very near the 2nd rail. The whole show was amazing, everything sounded great and everyone I spoke to thought it was fantastic.
We figured that a lot of lizzo fans would leave after her set and it proved correct and basically, picked a route through the middle to get where we were.
In patience I did the 'bullshit' line and everyone around me gave me bad looks. Then had to explain that it's from a live recording in 1991 or so and the guy said 'we weren't born in 1991'

True, it saddens me they can not make it work, and not even a single date!

I thought it was a really good show. It was a stellar start, and that carried them through. The crowd looked like they were enjoying it, and there's alot of positive posts on Efestivals from people at the gig.
I had friends there. They had a blast and thought it was a great show. They recognized there were some mic/PA issues in the second half, but said the vibe and crowd was great, and the band "played on" (which wasn't something you could have been sure of 25 year ago!) and were having a good time. And honestly, how the people at the show feel has way more weight to me than what "reviewers" might say.
I think the press reviews are meant to drive clicks so tend toward the sensational and bombastic.
Does Axl sound the same as he did when he was in his late 20s and early 30s? No. I think expecting that is unrealistic, especially given his vocal style. I think saying "He doesn't sound like a note perfect AFD era Axl at this stage" is a fair and accurate criticism.
But I think you're overstating if you say he's unlistenable, he sounds absolutely horrible, or that people should avoid shows because of his current singing. Bullshit. That's taking the piss just to take the piss, IMHO. It will certainly get views/clicks...but it's hyperbole. It's taking a fair assessment and making it an unfair one.

"too many guitar solos"? everyone has their own tastes I suppose.
Quite frankly when I saw them at Spurs last year if Slash's solo was still going on now I wouldn't complain... fucking hook me up to an IV and leave me watching it indefitely ..
Man's a legend.
I could watch (and listen) to that man jam and solo endlessly. It's just fun to watch where his musicality goes, and how he uses his technique to get there. And it sounds fucking bonkers.

So unconcerned about what the critics would say, it took them almost a week to notice.

One review with an agenda….look at the videos and the reaction of the crowd…look at reviews of fans there…different view of the show.

The journo is an Arctic Monkeys fan, and they got mixed reviews on Friday night, so GNR were just an easy target

You guys are giving that review more consideration that it deserves. That was a good GNR show.

The ones with the negative reviews are clearly doing it for clickbait. We can all debate Axl's vocal ranges and abilities at his age but to say the things they were saying in those reviews were way off base and probably have not been following the band since they got back together.

Never got into the critique every second of the show. People do it. Guess that's how they have fun but I don't get it. As the Dead say, we're going to try to get this perfect for you. They're lying, we know it, they know it and we all go about having a good time anyway.

Just saw the show. I think it was brilliant as the british say.
Perhaps 2023 has the band playing their best shows since atleast 2017.
They really are on a roll.
