I have Italian and Native American ancestry so I kinda come at this from both angles.  100% , Native Americans were very much screwed over by the European settlers on both the North & South American continents. Calling it a genocide would be accurate.

But remember, for the most part they weren't benevolent peaceloving people themselves. Tribes often went to war with each other and they took over each other's territory.

What we are dealing with now is a matter of safety and economics. What happened 150-300 years ago doesn't excuse things, this is the society we all live in now. I don't blame people for coming here illegally, many want to have a better life and some are gang members & criminals that have no concerns about following the law.  But we cant keep on spending money on those who broke the law to come here providing them housing & food. They need to go back and apply legally to come here & we will welcome them with open arms. Also the immigration system needs to be reformed but you have to secure things before you can do that.  We have had this problem for decades, some administrations have tried to solve things while others not so much, particularly the Biden administration.

I wish we would do more to really help so people didn't have to leave their home countries just to be safe, fed, housed, all those basic things.  I wish they'd get crime under control so I didn't live in the murder capitol of the country and didn't have to worry about getting carjacked.

My eighty plus year old mother of Italian descent from Cicero loves America.  She recently said, “Why are we doing this to ourselves? To our county?” She feels strongly that her country is being dangerously influenced by foreign adversarial government SPIES.

I hope for her and everyone the “poli-social” temperature simmers down everywhere. Factions.

My 91 year old mother only cares about abortion rights.  Not sure if she would have aborted me and my siblings but she definitely didn't want to be pregnant.  She's still pissed her husband had to sign permission for her to have her tubes tied after 4 kids.  And then had to beg the doctor who put her her on valium.
