Glad to see Biden increased his goal to 1.5 million shots per day, since we were already doing 1 million.

although if we can do nearly 1 million a day with no plan, i'm not clear on why another 500K is such a lofty goal. something doesn't add up. i'm sure the press will ask Biden to clarify.

this is still a slow pace and only puts us on track for herd immunity next winter.

But like Biden said, "there's nothing we can do" to change the trajectory of the pandemic.

Even if you take at face value that they are against the federal government guiding the states' distribution in principle, there is no excuse to not use the federal government as a practical tool when states are coming up short and asking for help. Unless, I suppose, one is more concerned with abstract ideological principles than actually saving lives and serving the functions of basic governance...

I can't even give them that much leeway.  If this was a hurricane that destroyed a city (unless it was in Puerto Rico), they would have unleashed the guard, the army, and every other resource they could for logistics and support.  It's one of the times "big government" is agreed by everyone to be effective.

If this was some sort kneeling to an ideological principal, it was a damn shitty one that endangered every life in the US.  

With how extremist the Republican party has become, I don't even take for granted that they want there to be ANY federal government at this point. Grover Norquist said the quiet part out loud: "make the government small enough to drown it in the bathtub".

Of course, I was just engaging in a thought exercise. I would never be so naive as to think their selective invocation of "state's rights" is any kind of genuine principled stance.

Is the official name the "going green plan"?  I heard some pieces of that today.  Balancing the jobs of today while moving towards the jobs of the future.  The pandemic brought on full stop and things adjusted pretty quickly.  I'm wondering if Biden shouldn't just take that approach with this.
