You can be a dem this time and a rep the next. Like that isn't wide open for fraud.
... how? What kind of "fraud" does that enable?

Biden really pissed me off when he picked a running mate based on their gender and race, not for their qualifications.
Oh, for the love of God... we've literally already been over this with Senator. Do you not believe that being a representative of the most historically subjugated minority in a country has any value in the job of literally
REPRESENTING
the people of a nation?
In fact, by assuming that limiting his options to women means he could not pick the most qualified candidate, you are suggesting that you do not believe women can be as qualified as men. Otherwise, the most qualified woman would be equal to the most qualified man.
It should also be noted that what are traditionally considered qualifications to hold office were determined by white men and therefore reflect their values.

Now Trump is blaming Woodward, saying he should've said something if he thought it would've saved lives. I mean the gall of this man. He's the president, geez supposed to keep his people safe. Instead he's doing what he always does, blame everyone else but himself. Absolutely no accountability.

The lying about covid thing? I'm going to say we knew. We just thought Trump was in denial.
Now we have it in his own words. He lied. Intentionally Straight up.
Quote
You can't really argue about the trying to keep people from panicking after the hoarding of toilet paper that went on.
Yeah, but his lies also certainly made a segment of the country take the virus less seriously. Calling it a democratic hoax politicized the response (and continues to do so). It assuredly led to thousands and thousands of additional deaths.
Also, this guy tries to create panics on the daily to benefit him politically. Dangerous immigrant caravans, mexican rapists, minority invasion of the suburbs, mail in voting....I could go on and on with examples. What he meant was: I didn't want to create a panic that might negatively effect my election chances and the stock market. The American people's health and safety be damned.
This country has a history of shooting straight with it's citizens in times of crisis, and dealing with the outcome. IF he had been honest and IF he had actually taken steps in late January, we could have nipped this in the bud early, taken measures then, and minimized the effect on our country. He chose, instead, to LIE about the virus, try to actually impede responses by states, and to politicize the virus (probably because he knew it would likely hurt him in the polls). He made things worse.
Quote
My problem with Biden is he says he's going to keep us safe. Little bit of nazi in every politician and people in power. I'm willing to cooperate but that's as far as I'm willing to go with mandates. Shutting down the economy is bad for peoples physical and mental health too. The economy isn't about making money, it's about people being able to live and have their basic needs met.
Serious issues call for serious responses. Trump hasn't done that. Yes, shutting down the economy is a tough solution. Hopefully, with the vaccine, we can avoid any long term shut down going forward. BUT, if Trump had shut down in January...we likely would have been shut down 4 to 6 weeks (looking at other countries models and numbers) and likely would have all but eradicated the virus in the US. We would have been pretty close to 100% back to normal by May. If Trump had used the Defense Act, in January, to get tests produced, and put the full might and vigor of the US government into contact tracing, we may have been able to shorten even that time frame.
He did none of that. His actions actually CAUSED the extended economic shut down, and he STILL pushed to reopen too fast. And so...we have almost 200k dead. We have an economy in crisis. He has blood on his hands. We suspected it before....now we know it. In his own words. He knew, and rather than take action, rather than let people know the severity of the issue, he chose to downplay and politicize it.
A vote for this guy, now, just legitimizes and endorses those actions.
This county has a history of shooting straight with its citizens? It definitely does not. Toxic waste dumps in peoples backyards, agent orange, presidents now beloved whose reputation for things they did in office nobody would have approved of, interns used as sex toys on capitol hill, dark money. That list goes on and on. They don't come clean until they get nailed for it. They hide it all away under national security. Our free press, Bob Woodard knows this, is our best line of defense. If this is such a big deal, he failed us, failed his profession and he did it for his own profit.
But I agree with him, just another stupid thing out of Trump's mouth. I feel there was enough information out there at the time to warn me what was coming. Not to say any of us knew the full ramifications. This was something new to our generations.
Note: in times of crisis. None of what you laid out...except viet nam and agent orange....rise to the level of a national crisis. They are examples of politicians behaving badly and getting caught. Clinton diddling an intern wasnt a significant cohort to thousands of deaths. I am talking about wars, economic collapse, pandemics, and the like.
Viet Nam and WMDs in Iraq are the only two real instances I can think of where the President hasnt shot straight in a time of crisis. And we both know how those two instances turned out.
And yes, again, Woodward should have spoke up if he could.
YOU might have felt you had enough information to make good decisions. You have only to look around to see many, many did not. They believed him when he said it was a dem hoax. They believed him when he said it was just going to go away. They believed him when he told them it was safe to open back up.
His lies had consequences. Not to you...or to me....but to a whole lot of people looking for guidance and leadership. He failed them, miserably.

Yeah, we can't forget the Trump supporters who drank fish tank cleaner because of his Hydroxychloroquine lies.
Or the multiple supporters of his who died of Covid because they were in denial as a result of his propaganda.

The racist dogwhistling is getting more and more out in the open as we approach the election. It's clear that Trump's advisers see his key to scraping the possibility of a win out of his failing campaign at this point is to incite racism with the classic white-flight fear mongering.
Listen to an explicitly racist 1950s Levittown resident and then Trump, back to back. The only difference is in how explicit they are being. The rhetoric is identical; "driving down property values", "bringing crime to the "peaceful" white suburbs"...

"I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood. Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down."
We've now come full circle from the Trump Crime Family's 1970s DOJ settlement for housing discrimination, to ending the first Black president's policy to combat discriminatory housing practices and segregation. There is no denying Trump's racism anymore.
Sorry Trump, but you can't win an election by appealing only to losers and suckers.

Yeah, i actually thought his best moment was at the end there talking to the immigrant woman who lost her mother to covid-19. He actually showed some compassion, but then there's the fact he's trying to abolish the ACA during a health crisis with no replacement plan in place, so yeah.

This is just freaking hilarious....and a not too bad (if sarcastic) look at some of the logic/rationalization used to justify Trump support:

Believe me when I tell you that the LAST THING I could POSSIBLY want would be to vote for Donald Trump. That’s why I am so stunned that you have taken it upon yourself to go to such lengths to FORCE me to vote for him! You sick, sick monster! I don’t even like him, not even one little bit. So I hope you’re happy with what YOU are making me do, which comes to me as a total surprise and is definitely not a foregone conclusion in any way.
Over the past four years, Trump’s ominous shadow has devoured everything that was precious about America, chewed on it and spat out only bones and gristle. This has slightly obscured the accomplishments of his administration, which include, if I am remembering right (DON’T TELL ME IF I’M NOT; THAT WILL MAKE ME ANGRY, AND YOU KNOW WHO ANGRY PEOPLE VOTE FOR), ending the budget deficit and doing whatever it was Abraham Lincoln did, but better and faster.
Do I think Trump has the attributes necessary for governing? Absolutely not! He is a dangerous man, and every day we spend under his leadership is a day we lose a precious share of the world’s respect that we may never regain. There’s definitely not a “But!” coming after such a strong and overwhelming condemnation of his leadership.
But! (You MONSTER! I can’t BELIEVE you put a “BUT” right here in my otherwise full-throated condemnation! That is the only explanation for how it could have gotten there; I know I would not have put it there.) I am more afraid that Joe Biden is the unwitting puppet of dangerous socialists, something you forced me to think using a mind ray. God! You’re even more disgusting than I imagined.
Danielle Pletka: I never considered voting for Trump in 2016. I may be forced to vote for him this year.
It is also bizarre and, frankly, counterproductive of you to insist that I not read any of Biden’s policy positions on anything, or how you have expended all this effort to make me baselessly paranoid that some shadowy, unseen figure is pulling his strings — something I would not think on my own! Can’t believe you’ve pushed me to this point.
I should also note that, much as I hold deep, principled reservations about Trump’s leadership, I just want to say that if anyone makes me feel the least bit uncomfortable about the legacy of racism in this country or urges me to learn one particle of history that I would not like to learn, I will panic, and when I panic, I vote for Trump (which is, I admit, weird given that I have ZERO desire to do so).
Also, I am sick of media bias. Journalists never quote the president saying anything that makes him look good or sound competent. But just statistically a person must sometimes sound at least kind of competent. Like the monkey-typewriter-Shakespeare thing! So if I see anywhere that the president said something that makes him look bad, malicious or incompetent, you know what that means: I’m going to have to vote for him. Twist my arm, why don’t you!
I am not worried about any dictatorial tendencies from Trump. Yes, he says all the time now that he deserves a third term and that his first one should not be counted, and he constantly implies that he will not accept the results of the election as legitimate if they involve the counting of mailed-in ballots. He also loves nothing better than to embrace creepy strongmen abroad! But (whoa, another “but”! You must be really messed up) I just kind of don’t think he really will follow through on any of it? And what if Biden, whom I have no reason to believe would do any of these things, were secretly planning something much, much worse?
Are there people on the right as bad as the people on the left who are really what is wrong with America? Yes, I think? You made me frame that very confusingly. Sure, it’s bad that the president is giving aid and cover to white supremacists, but — I can’t BELIEVE you would make me put another “but” here! This isn’t a sentence that should have a “but” in it! Though while we’re here, I guess I would say, since you’ve forced me to — but how much do we really need to care about that? You’ve given me no choice but to vote for Trump.
Is there anything any of you could say or do that would make me not vote for him? Wow, it’s condescending questions like this that have really forced my hand.
So I am going to hold my nose and vote for Donald Trump. It would be a real shame for the country, I think, but then again, it might not be such a shame. It almost feels like you WANT me to do it. Okay, I’ll do it.

He's a coastal liberal elite (registered Dem for years) telling them how to live their lives, stomping all over states' rights by claiming "total authority" and saying "take the guns first, deal with the 2nd amendment later".
They have no principles except cruelty. Everything else is just window dressing to justify the cruelty.

More of that characteristic conservative personal responsibility!
Richard Spencer could run for president and they would make excuses like these, suggesting that they are only voting for an openly Fascist White Supremacist because "the left is too PC".

He needs to stop using the word caliphate too. He is using it entirely wrong. Just cause Isil claims to be a caliphate doesn't make it one. He's basically giving them credibility using the word.

He also rearranges words on the fly when he feels his stutter kicking in. And i dont see an honest and unimportant rearranging of names as anything remotely equivalent to Trumps "herd mentality" foible (or use of caliphate or similair). We all know he means herd immunity....its just funny how appropriate "herd mentality" is, all things considered.
Not to mention anything from the post is tabloid dreck. And right wing conservative tabloid dreck at that. Its only a shade away from the Enquirer in terms of levels of bullshit. More Murdoch owned propaganda.
