As someone in local government and working with health departments I agree with everything you said except ... I think you’re optimistic about late summer/early fall. I think as far as big concerts go, we can cancel 2021. Movie theaters will probably be back up and running. Anyway, good post.

I should have been more clear.

I think shows are 50/50, at best.  Largely because they require a long lead time for them to schedule, and you have to be 100% (or nearly so) that you can have that show before you schedule it.

But I think we will have a fairly large majority of those that want to be vaccinated, vaccinated, by September.  I'm hearing a fair bit about what the new administration is going to do to speed things up, and I think we'll be able to hit close to a million jabs a day, coming up pretty quickly.

We'll see.  We will know by late February how things are going, and that will give us a better idea of where we'll be, and when.

I have travel scheduled for early October.  I'm pretty confident we'll be able to take that trip without really worrying about COVID.

I wish the people who do the Chick-fil-A drive thru lines were over the vaccine rollout. Haha

Hey...take your bow! Wink

More of these will start to pop up around the country, too, if plans pan out.

Well all I know is that over here in Europe music festivals are still planning their summer festivals. Some are announcing their line ups as we speak.

Jarmo, do you think the European dates will go on even with a slow rollout of the vaccines.  I think the usa dates will be canceled in that the vaccines are taking longer to reach the public than what was expected.  Keep our fingers crossed beer

I have no idea.

Some "experts" are saying the summer in Europe will be almost like back to normal, with travel etc. Others are more pessimistic.

Things scheduled for March are getting cancelled here in the UK and some festivals are moving to September. Summer stadium gigs in June are looking very very unlikely. The average age group of most major event attendees will not have been vaccinated by then and the fear is new mutations.
Unless the industry has a big plan up its sleeve regarding testing I think we can forget about this summer.

Im just another guy with 0 real knowledge about these things.

If had to guess. I could see in June/July gigs in Europe with something like capacity of 1000-5000 people. Stadiums with 10x times that? Unlikely.
August could be a different story.

Again i have no idea really.

That would be nice, to start from where they left it.

The problem is that there is no Latin American tour in November.

There is a tour in Australia and New Zealand scheduled for November.

Glastonbury just got cancelled here in the UK.
Hope live nation do the right thing and offer people the options of refunds sooner rather than later as it’s very clear that no concerts on a mass scale are happening this summer.  Cry

I think the European and usa tour dates get canceled. UK is in a lockdown to May and the usa has limited vaccines.  Hopefully the Australian tour is a go and then we get new music. beer

July 10th, 2021: Milwaukee, WI @ Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest)

Summerfest @Summerfest

We are excited to get the live music industry back in action and to welcome fans back, but in order to allow healthcare professionals more time to distribute the vaccine, Summerfest 2021 will be held September 2-4, 9-11 & 16-18. Save those dates, and we'll see you in September!

No information on whether or not GN'R and other acts will be scheduled for the new dates yet.

Scientists are pushing for lockdown till May here in the uk. I don't think the June dates are happening. I think the London date is maybe just down the road abit from where the England/Scotland match at Euro 2021 is supposed to happen? Speaking of which I hope it goes ahead (the tournament) even without fans.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but the Europe dates seem doomed until next year once the vaccine's really take hold.

Perhaps insurance is the reason it hasn't already been moved, and they need the governments in those countries to confirm?

Governor Murphy will allow 15% attendance at outdoor venues and 10% attendance in indoor venues for NJ starting March 1. The announcement was made today. Even if he increases the attendance by August, there won't be that many people who would be able to attend the GNR concert at MetLife Stadium.  They would have to do some type of lottery system if they don't allow full capacity.  I can see GNR postponing the tour again since it may not be worth it.  I hope not, though.

Just to connect to this topic.
With everything we hear and read, it is likely that 2021. is almost as 2020. with large concert venues and festivals. I work in event industry and prognostics are not that good.
Also, we have major festivals in our country and neither of them are promoting artists and line ups, but dates are scheduled (July, August).
And to add, there's some kind of deal with all European major festivals, that till end of the march, they won't publicly state about rescheduling or cancelling events. They will see how the situation with virus is going.

I think increasing attendance to 15% is positive news overall, because it is still February and GNR concert is in August. Europe probably won't happen ,taking into account the slow vaccination rollout, but maybe...maybe there is some hope for the US, especially if they move some dates in Sepetmber. IDK, we have to wait and see Undecided
