I just noticed an ad on Facebook for new GnR Halloween merch. The weird thing is they are selling a shirt advertising a 10/31 Radio City Show and say that if you order by the 16th you will receive the shirt by the 31st.

https://gnrmerch.com/collections/halloween-2018/products/vintage-photo-glow-in-the-dark-t-shirt

They make it sound like it's a 'historic' show, but they have never played a 10/31 show at Radio City that I can find. In 1987 they played in Syracuse NY on Halloween which is the closest they've been on that day to Radio City.

Could this be a possible warmup show in NYC???

This is the description of a club in California called Radio City.  Seems more the place they were playing then. I copied it from Wikipedia.  Just searched Radio City 80’s club California.

A small, dank, concert venue for upstart heavy metal bands in the 1980's.
There were actually three nightclubs located in the strip mall that was once on this site, Radio City, The Woodstock and, Cartoons & Capers.
Most of the strip mall was destroyed by fire in November 1985.

I don't see any connection with some merch and a surprise show. Merch is sold because it will make money.

It is just what it is.
