Ugh.....

I know Linkin Park isn't everyone's cup of tea, but this is just terrible.

Ya this sucks. I grew up with their music. Sad. He was a pretty decent signer.

I was almost forced in to liking LP because all my friends liked them. I saw them live 4 times...

MSG show when Jay Z came out was so much fun...

This is just awful all the way around. I don't understand how these guys with children do this...

I don't know the details of his suicide.  I don't THINK there was a current substance abuse issue (like with Scott). I know he struggled with alcohol abuse, and acid use, back in the early 2000's, but I think he'd been sober for quite awhile?

Depression, and mental illness, are insidious, nasty, awful diseases that whittle away your self esteem, sense of self worth, and will to live.  No matter how successful you are, there's that little fucking voice telling you that you are a fraud, that you are worthless, that the people you love would be better off without you.

You look fine on the outside, you can even learn coping mechanisms that make you look, for all appearances, to be totally normal and high functioning.  But inside, you're fighting a demon 24/7, that...while logically you know is the disease...just wears you down.

I've watched people I love and care about struggle with this.  Some have managed it. Some...not so much. It's heartbreaking to watch. You can do EVERYTHING in your power to help, and sometimes...even that's not enough. Sometimes, even with treatment or meds or support of those around you....it doesn't matter (no pun intended, at all).

Cornell and him were close. Chester even tweeted he wasn't sure how he could live in a world without Chris. Chester was reportedly DEVASTATED when Cornell died. While I doubt Chris' death was the cause, I'm sure losing his close friend didn't help...

Yeah in my experience with this, with people I knew ... the last people you would expect are the ones that go thru with it...

So scary and upsetting.

It seems easy to say that the song "Heavy" was a cry for help.

Nothing is surprising anymore.

It is very clear he did it on purpose....

He did it on Cornell's 53rd birthday.

That isn't a coincidence. It just isn't.

Very sad for sure.

Agreed. Would be too much of a coincidence.

Tonight at the Chester Bennington tribute concert they showed a message from Duff.

He talked about Chester and how he was nervous at one of the shows they were doing. He said Chester went back to his dressing room and rehearsed the song 22 times before taking the stage. He said he was the most professional singer he ever work with.

Metallica, Paul McCartney, Jared Letto and couple of others shared messages as well.

They broadcasted it on Youtube.

Books are useless! I only ever read one book, ?To Kill A Mockingbird,? and it gave me absolutely no insight on how to kill mockingbirds.

I watched the video of In The End from that concert. It was very very eerie seeing them perform it without him there singing it and the crowd doing his past. The crowd brought it though. Must be so hard for his bandmates.
