Hey guys!
My name is Rafael, I'm from Rio de Janeiro and I'm an English teacher in some public schools here in my city.
I work with kids from the age of 5 to 17, most of them are from a very poor background, they have very little access to culture and the world outside their neighborhoods. It's a challenge trying to teach them English, to say the least...
Anyway... in one of the schools where I work I have a workshop where I use digital and social media to teach English and have the students producing content in English - I'm about to finish a project where they created subtitles for music videos of the artists they like... I helped them translating the lyrics and taught them how to work with the subtitle software and the results have been great so far (one of my students wanted to translate "This I Love" because she said the verse "I've searched the universe and found myself within her eyes" was just heartwarming
)
Anyway.
After the Olympics are done I wanna start a new project where they are going to "interview" some foreign friends of mine. Basic stuff like "What's your name?", "Where are you from?", "How old are you?", "What do you do for a living?" and things like that, just so they can practice the basics of WH- and yes/no questions, countries, nationalities, professions... they will record themselves asking the questions and we'll edit their videos with the videos the ones being interviewed are going to send me. I already have a few people that are interested in participating, but the more people the better.
