Steven Adler Performs With Guns N? Roses in Cincinnati

Steven Adler performed with Guns N? Roses on Wednesday night (July 6) in Cincinnati, marking the first time he?s taken the stage with the band since 1990. The drummer was introduced by Axl Rose and played on ?Out Ta Get Me? and ?My Michelle? in the middle of the band?s 26-song set. Adler was a member of the band?s classic lineup from 1985 through 1990. He was kicked out of the band due to his excessive drug use, playing his last show with GN?R on April 07, 1990. There had been rumors of him possibly being part of the classic reunion taking place this year with Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, but this is the first time he has appeared onstage with the band during their run of North American shows. Check out video of Adler performing with Guns N? Roses in Cincinnati above, as well as a tweet from Guns N? Roses below. GN?R?s summer North American ?Not In This Lifetime Tour? continues into August.

Each time I see a new concert thread for this tour, I keep thinking... is this really happening?

I'll be at the Nashville show on Saturday night. Wonder what the odds are that Steven will head south with them? Maybe to meet Izzy? (A guy can dream.)  beer

People discussing song credits in this point and time...seriously?

AFD full lineup on stage is so close to happen...I wonder if there is any recent bad blood with Izzy ...hope not!

Those songs with Steven were probably the best I've heard on this tour. That was gritty rock n' roll at its best.

I love, love, love My Michelle.  To me, it's the most underrated AFD track (note: TO ME).  To hear that, on the setlist, is a treat in itself.  To hear it played by Adler is...otherworldly.  In an already otherworldly occurance.

It would be great if Izzy did appear, but I just wonder if him and Matt doing something together is a hint he won't be involved. All I will say is, last you people in Cincinnati got something very cool. Good for guns, good for you.

Well all indications are this thing will continue after the US shows with more touring in other countries and into 2017.  With next year the 30th anny of Appetite I bet we see all 5 on stage together if not before then.

Here is my OTGM video from last night. I was front row Smiley https://youtu.be/MsNcvbyGd0Q

How was your view of the stage? I was in the pit in DC to the right of where you were on the rail but I'm going back for the ATL show and just wanted to know how well you could see over the stage extension.

I'm holding the camera way over my head in the video. That said, I've been in the same spot on the left and right now. I'm 6'1 and it's a 6' stage so it wasn't awful, but the stage monitors kill my view either way.

My exact watching the video was "this guy must be 6'6 or holding the camera up." I was concerned about the monitors as well and about your same height, thanks for the feedback!!  beer

I hope we get to see him playing Rocket Queen. It's great as it is right now, but it's a whole different animal with Steven on drums.

In the comments part of the Cincy entry on setlist.fm, it states, "First Guns N? Roses live performance with Axl, Slash, Duff, Dizzy, and Steven Adler onstage together since 7 April 1990 at Farm Aid." Did Dizzy really perform at Farm Aid?

I'm pretty sure that was his VERY first show with them, actually.

According to HTGTH, he officially joined in Feb, 1990. Smiley

Edit: I stand corrected.  I don't see him in the video.  I honestly couldn't remember one way or the other, which is why I checked the HTGTH "way back" machine.

I shoulda gone ONE page deeper into the HTGTH "way back machine":

January 20th, 1991 - Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed made their concert debuts for GN'R at the Rock In Rio II festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Three minutes before Matt goes onstage in front of 140.000 people, they tell him that he's gotta do a drum solo. And he pulled it off!
