In the interest of context: How much did he talk (meaning audibly, to the crowd) during the gigs in the AFD/UYI era?

From the pictures it didn't look like there were many empty seats anywhere ... I wonder if they sold a lot of walk ups.

The pits were "empty", maybe only half full on both sides:

41,000 people and 90% sold.    For comparison, Beyonce just played there to 42,000.  That's what I read, somewhere, anyway.

I'm not sure thats a sales issue....might be, but also might be capacity limits and crowding around where the action is. I see similar things at many shows with ga pits....when i know all the tickets for the pits are sold out.  

Idk if there were pit tix available going into show day, here, though. Anybody know for sure?

That's the pits full. Everyone huddles towards the stage so there is always dead space in a standing area.

With GNR I think he only took the microphone to say anything when he was really high. It's not really his personality.
I recall some shows when he would say some non sense. Which was always very funny btw.
With the Conspirators, well, it's his band. Most people go to the shows especially because of him, so it's nice that he says something.

Haven't seen them since '92 either - at Williams Brice stadium in Columbia, SC with Metallica.  Fixing to head up to FedEx Field Ina couple of hours.  Can't wait!  Talk about something you never expected to happen "in my lifetime"  !!!
