After months of Internet buzz, positive reviews, and being in the national spotlight, we are getting ready to go on our first lull in action since the reunion train cranked up. This will be our first down time before the AC/DC shows and Summer stadium tour. They are red hot right now, and I would hate to see them disappear. In this new Internet/Digital Age, people have short attention spans and expect immediate gratification. GNR are red hot right now and need to keep the fire stoked.
Would now be the perfect time to drop a single? With all the positive energy and momentum, it just seems like the next logical move.
I just feel like they've proven their "staying power" and "relevance." And up to this point, they have done almost everything "right" from a marketing point of view. The only thing left to do is drop at least a teaser of new music. So far we have seen a band that is "hungry" and playing their asses off. They are anything but a nostalgia act or a typical "dinosaur rock band" looking for one last dollar and 15 minutes of fame. They look like they have so much more music to offer.
If an album is out of the question, isn't a single plausible? In addition, a new single, with classic GNR production and sound quality, would help push some more ticket sales.
Also, GNR have always been a great studio band. It was the primary format in which they "proved their greatness."

I feel like we are getting close to the "now or never" moment in their history. EVERYTHING is going right for them right now. It seems like the window is wide open to drop a GNR rock n roll bomb.

That is assuming they have recorded something these past months

Because now that Axl is on tour with ACDC I think it will be a little difficult for him to record something, and knowing the perfeccionist that is Axl, that makes this almost impossible

But to answer your question, hell yes, it's time to drop a rock n roll, in your face, single

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you. But these past couple months have been anything but normal for us GNR fans. It's just an over the top "dream" where all the pieces have been falling into place-- sold out stadiums, showing up on time, positive reviews, aligning with icon and rock royalty Angus Young, etc. This time around they are doing everything "spot on" to purge their reputation and vindicate their legacy. Even Axl is "behaving right." It's going so well that I don't think the "stars could ever align" so perfectly again. Dropping a single now would solidify everything.

I would just hate to see this window pass. They may never get this much press and spotlight again. The "hunger" for GNR is still there. The interest is still there. The excitement of "GNR's return" is still buzzing in the air. It is a magical moment that can't be re-created ever again. It's now or never. They're still just young enough to be a mainstream relevant act and go on "one last run" of hits and rock domination. However, the clock is ticking and we're burning precious time now. For most of us, these past couple months have been "the dream return" we've all envisioned for years.

Fuck yes it's time!

An EP with 3 new tracks, the New/Alternate version of Better, and TWAT with SLASH performing the final 2-plus minute solo.

I'd love to know if the 2016 GN'R Reunion Better was reworked by Slash, or if this new and improved Better was part of the Infamous/Unconfirmed Chinese Democracy Re-mix album.

I think the band is more than capable of determining the right time to release music.

The shows are selling out well, the people saying what they "need to do" are always amusing.  hihi

Dropping something in the middle of the stadium tour dates would be great!
What better promotion than all the buzz going on and awesome show reviews.  ok

I think its time to be realistic.

Best case scenario, DUff and Slash went Axl's vault and reworked some stuff.

They don't need to drop new music because it seems they are selling tickets like crazy haha but it would be pretty damn awesome to have as many new songs as possible whenever they are ready to release them. Haven't heard a new track with Axl, Slash and Duff  in over 20 years and never heard a new track with this lineup. So hears to hoping we get a lot of new music in the future and hopefully not so distant future.  ok

When I heard the new intro to Better, I thought is this something new?, then they went into better. But if they came up with that kick ass intro, they can come up with more crazy shit

Supposedly, some of the stuff in that vault was partially written back-in-the-day, so there very well may be something easily reworked.  Grin

Unfortunately with not one new song being played live yet, I doubt we'll hear new music anytime soon.

Ooooh . . . sobering point.
Damn.

But, the "re-worked" intro to "Better" could be a glimmer of hope  that the band is "reworking" CD and CD2 material! A silver lining?

Those April shows were just a warm-up to ease the fans into this hybrid configuration.

For the stadium tour, they'll go back to the three guitarist line-up.  That's why Izzy didn't do these April shows.  He was reworking the old vault material.  Come July 23rd, BOOM! Izzy rejoins on stage and they drop the new songs!!!  Grin

You say that like it is a bad thing.  Slash and Duff adding things to an existing song from Axl's vault is a new Guns N Roses song.  A song isn't a song until it is released, if something comes out with all 3 of them on there who cares HOW it happened?  It doesn't matter if it was an idea sitting around for 20 years or 20 minutes, it will still be a new song to us.

If a full length album is too much to put together at this point maybe a fun 4 or 5 song EP with the reworked "CD" songs as mentioned above?  They could even call it "Not in This Lifetime" to go along with the tour.

yep...I do think a new song would be great right before the tour starts....would love a new song. Unfortunately, new music hasn't been a Gnr priority in a long time. It is a simple truth. I just hope the positive energy will push the label and band to get it done and strike while the iron is hot. beer

Soldout football stadiums and added dates, I'd say GNR has the world by the balls N' don't need to do a damn thing...A new song or ep would be fantastic, but apparently not necessary..

Obviously I'd love new music, we all would. But in a business sense, it's not necessary right now. They're white hot, interest is extremely high, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. New music is not needed to keep this train rolling. They're doing amazingly well without doing any press. It's not a blueprint most bands would have success with, but this is a different animal obviously.

Once the touring ends, whenever that may be, then they can focus on new music. At least that's my hope.

I seriously doubt they have anything ready to go.

We just have to hope that maybe this tour lights the fire again so it might happen down the line.
