Use Your Illusion I (1991)

« Reply #280 on: April 21, 2016, 04:39:16 PM »

I love the setlist...

I couldn't ask for anything more...

I don't care for The Seeker...

but this is all so much fun... nitpicking the set list makes for great water cooler talk...but like So Fine said... they could play anything from the GNR catalogue... and I'd love it.

Still can't believe Slash is on that stage. When Axl said not in this life time... I truly believed him!

If some of the recent nit-picking has taught me anything, it's that some people try reeeeaally hard not to have a good time.

I agree. I'm happy with Gn'R. First time I've been happy with them since 2011ish. Lots is happening at a high level!

" SOLD OUT "

« Reply #281 on: April 21, 2016, 05:04:39 PM »

Remember the alternative songs from the April 9 Vegas setlist?

They were:

Nice Boys
Think About You
Used To Love Her
Yesterdays
TWAT

Heres the setlist from Mexico City:

Perfect Crime and Out Ta Get Me are there as well..

I'm thinking they may have rehearsed lots and lots of songs, then choose which ones to put up as alternatives for each single show. Meaning the alternative-list can change from show to show, opening up for songs we haven't seen on any list yet.

Thanks for that picture. I'm happy to know that Out Ta Get Me and Perfect Crime are in a list. I hope at some point they replace two CD songs

 Grin

Wow perfect crime! So yesterday's was not an alternate last night interesting.

Nah, that is just your way of looking at it.

There is no backhandedness to anything. You're just trolling basically and trying to start a internet flame war. I don't really care what you think.

There's Gn'R 85-1996, then 97-14 (which I call Nu Gn'R) It isn't a tasteless term. It is just waht I call it, and to be honest I heard it from someone on here years and years ago... long before you joined in 2012  ok

So please leave me alone. I'm happy with the current band, Richard and Frank are great with Slash/Duff. It's going really well. You're grasping at straws.

I don't troll anybody. 2012....

Your wish is my command...take care.

Oh God, now I really want this tour to properly begin. They must be saving up some songs to the big tour.
Axl will be out of the throne, will be able to interact with the other guys, which will be the first time we see it for real, and then...Perfect Crime?! Come on, this is gonna be epic! There's so many UYI songs I want to hear.
If Izzy shows up I'll die. Dust n Bones, 14 Years. Would be great to see Duff and Axl doing So Fine.

And yes, I do think four CD songs is a bit too much for an album that never had too much atention. For me it's simple as that, I'm not even considering my personal taste. Axl wants to make a point and it is interesting to see what Slash can do to this songs, but I don't think four songs per show is really necessary. Anyway, I loved they played Yesterdays and Axl is sounding so great.

It's just really sad what happened to the fans in the bus. To think that those people were probably dreaming to this day as we all are, left their homes hoping to see their dreams come true, have a great time and then...that happened. It's sad.

BIG THANK YOU to the entire GNR Crew who do an amazing job every show.  beer

It is because of ALL of the behind-the-scene people that the seven artists on stage can perform at their highest level even on nights like last night.

TWAT was amazing. @_@

Didn't realize there was a ChiDem quota that the band broke last night. Will they be fined?

It would be cool if they shook up the order of the songs I guess? I personally like the ordering. They might have that down in a rhythm.

Not trying to complain as things are awesome, but maybe switch up the pacing or ordering of the song.

You guys think we'll get AFD in it's entirity at some point next year?

I have to say, Slash's solo on TWAT is probably the most reserved and tasteful he's done in a while. And I say that as a big Slash fan. He's just been going so shredder-style lately, he seems to have lost his bluesy groove and forgotten how to play slower solos like Nov Rain. Good to see him playing more like he used to.

Now fingers crossed to hear "perfect crime"... if I remember well, this song was also on the setlist for the "new gnr" shows, but they never played it... I guess it's very hard to sing this song  Roll Eyes

We also had a little mini rant with axl yelling at a guy with a green laser. Not a rant like the old days though he basically just told the guy to knock it off.

« Reply #297 on: April 21, 2016, 09:23:00 PM »

I agree. TWAT is a good song, but you really can't say with any validity that it is the "best song".

I guess maybe to you it could be. I'm talking objectively here. I don't think that it could be. Universally people don't think that.

Them playing CD songs is cool, I think Nikki hit the nail on the head

there is no "obectively" best song. just as there is no objectively best color or best flavor. if you want to go by what people think universally, isn't that the same as saying the most popular music is the best music? you can see what road that logic would take you down (a road i would only walk down with earplugs in). i think when it comes to things like art, there is not really such a thing as best. people just like what they like, and for all kinds of different reasons.

No universally meaning critically too. Popular music isn't usually good now days. GOod music usually isn't popular.

I mean you can stay stuck on the "opinion" thing all you want man, it is overrun so badly.

I'm simply saying that in general, you can't consider TWAT as Gn'R's best song or even towards the top of the heap. There's better songs done. I can go sales on you, and I can go charting on you with it. It can go on for days. Yeah some of it is subjective, but because 1 person says this is better than that... that is their opinion sure, but it doesn't change anything.

Then, my "opinion" is that welcome to the jungle is a better song than TWAT. That's my opinion right?

Well it is also the opinion of millions of others. If something is a large majority, then it rules that.

Like if you ask 100 people... do you like TWAT or SCOM, or TWAT and November Rain etc...

maybe 10-15 at best will vote TWAT. (that is 100 random people and not blind CD supporters on here)

Point made.

Do you even read this stuff before you post it? Just... never mind. You win.

This song really appreciates in value with Slash back in the fold.
