Alice Coopers  wake the dead would be a good song for Guns to cover

There's so many great rock tunes they can play.

I think Simple Man by Skynyrd would be phenomenal if played with a bit of fire.  It'd be cool for Guns to bring back that southern rock feel and would sit great next to Civil War.  Also something like Ride On by ACDC would add another cool sound to the setlist and be different enough from everything else they play.

That said, there's no reason why they can't drop all the covers and just play music that they have written themselves during their tenures inside and outside of GNR, after all they have more than enough material between them.

Axl could pull out some unreleased tunes that he's had on the back burner during the CD era, and maybe Slash can bring something like Back in Cali, Promise or Starlight.  They have such a rich musical legacy between them that this wouldn't be a problem for them.

Incidentally, I hope they ditch KOHD from the setlist for now.  I feel it lacks the spark that made the 90's version so special.  I get frustrated with the way the chorus is sung.  The only part I find interesting is Fortus' single note leads with some his jazzy note choices and chicken picking.

Agreed, I'll sit and enjoy it but would like something else instead of the 10 minute drawn out chord progression.

Why would anyone want to hear guns play other people's music live

When there s a ton of there own material we have never heard live.

Scrap all the cover songs!  Every last one

Play nothing but original guns n roses music.

To be fair, some of the covers are almost like their own songs. That's how much people associate them with GN'R.

Heavens Door specifically just sounds like a Guns song, it always sound 'funny' to me when I hear the original (or the Clapton Version)

What I would love to hear them do is celebrate the history of the band by working in an older club cover along with a something like Shadow of Your Love

Man, I agree that KOHD is recognised as a GNR anthem but I think the 90s way of playing it was far superior.

In fact I can't think of any rock song more perfect than this!  peace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFX_gmELnNE

I suppose they can adjust it for each occasion though and perhaps not have as much bombast in it unless it's a special occasion, like the Freddy Tribute was.

Oh man that's a good song! Or from the same album "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad" with the dueling guitar solo at the end!

I was thinking I'd love to hear "Am I Wrong" by Love Spit Love in there. I think it would be really well done by Axl.

It would be a cool song to hear Axl on, would fit him well.

Also, I think it would be interesting hearing Axl singing a melodic song with his lower registry voice. "Poison Heart" by the Ramones comes to mind.

Looks like they might be playing Slither.  I hate that song.

More importantly though -  I see PERFECT CRIME on that list!!!

Yeah, we're discussing it in another thread. But Perfect Crime is being an option on the setlist since 2006, so...

When The Crowds are Gone, by Savatage. Axl can play the piano, Slash can try to sound like Criss Oliva, and the whole thing would rule.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z11k7_dXUo8

Axl doing that outro (starting at the 4:30 mark) would sound awesome.

Agreed. I've known people who were surprised Knockin' was a Dylan song and even that LALD was McCartney. I'm all for anything that makes this a little more pushing forward and a little less nostalgia focused. I wonder if they found the right cover to play live we could possibly at least get a single of it. And Guns covers have a good record of being hits.
