The same guy who recorded that Better lostdream posted this nice This I Love. Now I can hear Slash much better and understand way more what he's trying to do. And I really like it more.

Really prefer Robin's version. Its the "original" one. I wouldn't like the other guys modifying slash's solo, so the same applys, in my opinion. And besides that, it was the best solo on CD.

I prefer Robin's version too. When I said that I liked Slash's more I meant more than when I first heard it.

same here. if only a one moment was Robin's trademark, it was this solo and this performance butchered it. maybe they should just drop this song and sometimes in the future, they could surprise us with a guest appearance of Robin (or DJ Ashba, who almost made a carbon copy of Robin's solo and it worked beautifully). it's a pity Robin never got a chance to play this live.
but maybe Slash will improve it soon. for me, the only really weak spot of the show.

I like Robin's solo, I love DJS solo, and Slash's take on it was just breathtaking. It's good that they let their creativity and feelings loose. The best solo on CD for me is TWAT.

That's kinda interesting.    

But some solos were always different with different members.  Night train for example.  

As long as the melody is the same.  Solos could always change.  Unless it's an iconic solo that "is" the song

Fuck I've finally watched/heard the full This I Love and man, that must've been the first time I'v ever enjoyed that song live !  Amazing !  What a song.

Yes, there were some bum notes/bends in Slash's solo, but fuck me, he wiped the floor with Finck/Ashba there !!! That is what they call a GNR guitar solo people ! FUCK !

Axl was visibly inspired by it and finished the song out with a passion and energy befitting his legacy.  He sounded as good on there as a 50+ year old sitting down can.

I think Slash took this song to a new level. Don't forget  that this song was written while Slash was still in the band back in 93.
