Anyone bummed it's a stadium tour and not more personal?

I prefer arenas to stadiums in general, but I look at like this: if they can sell out the stadiums, they will make a colossal amount of money.  Assuming the same level of demand, to make the same amount of money in an arena tour they would have to play many more shows (because you can't sell as many tickets for each show).  Doing fewer shows per tour will be better for Axl's voice - enabling more touring around the world. 

I'd rather Axl doesn't shred his voice with 50 shows in North America and not be able to do/ not be in top form for Europe, Japan, South America, Australia etc.

Exactly...and the two bands were on their prime...and rock n roll on its prime too with MTV and everything...thats why I think its a risky move. They are solely relying on the reunion (or regrouping) hype.

Stadiums are the way to go for the first tour in 23 years. U.S. arenas in 2017.

Most of the casual fans I've spoken to are unsure about buying tickets because they don't believe the band will be onstage before midnight. I believe tickets will sell quickly when/if the band cement their reliability this month in Vegas, Mexico, and Coachella.

Timing is important. With public onsales and Vegas shows coming this weekend, I expect promotion through word of mouth and radio/tv ads, etc. Interviews in May/June. A new song, if rumors are true.

I don't think they would've just scheduled a stadium tour without proper analysis and a marketing plan in place. I mean, we've already seen the major promotion going on in the cities, I'm sure there's more to come now that we're approaching the general sale date.

I'm guessing the band will probably do their share of the marketing as well. Although.. I read somewhere that usually the musicians themselves aren't contractually obliged to do promotion for a tour.

I was at first, scored a good ticket. Now can't wait!! Far cry from where I was at a CT show in I love in 2004, the Roseland Uo Close and Personal and he Brooklyn a bowl, but I will take it...

I'm so excited I don't care where it is, but I really hate stadium shows.  I'm not a fan of outside in the summer at all, and July on Ohio, which is where I am, can be pretty hot and humid, or rainy/stormy.  I think I got pretty good seats, according to Ticketmaster seating charts, (on slash's side, yay!) I'm field level and up close, and it will be a kickass show regardless of stadium vs arena.  I'm just glad this is finally happening!!!!

After being up close and personal for the last residencies and theater tours, hard to stomach seeing them from afar in stadiums. I thank my lucky stars I am seeing both Vegas shows!

Just the facts IMO.

I hope you don't think that The TMobile Arena and The Joint at Hard Rock are going to be similar experiences... The Joint holds 4k... T-Mobile depending on configuration can hold 15k-20k people, it is 4-5x larger.

I'm looking forward to the stadiums .... I've seen them in arenas, seen them on the UCAP tour, and saw both residencies....doing the stadium will be a massive show.

I've seen them in arenas and small venues, up close and personal was my last super GnR experience , seen Slash and Duff with VR and actually met them backstage and had pit tickets, but never saw GnR or actually any show in a stadium, so Im kinda excited and curious even people say they aren't as good as arena shows, I just cross my fingers they sell well, The Citrus Bowl in Orlando have 77.000 capacity , so Im not sure about how they gonna sell there.

Off course, I don't live in the US, so I could be wrong

But they should be doing interviews by now, along with live presentations on famous shows like Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, etc.

That would get people hyped up about this tour

Everybody's talking about it without one single interview. Plus, there's promotion for the upcoming tour.

Surely you must've seen all those photos of the billboards and so on? 

I know a lot of people thought they were doing smaller and smaller venues out of the goodness of their hearts, but I am not that person.

Including people who would actually know. Not that it matters.....

I think the stadiums were to be expected.

I miss the Hardrock personally.  Loved seeing them there....and will do so whenever they play there again in the distant future.

Haven't been able to get tickets to Vegas or Toronto, so that's the other ugly side of the stadiums.

There's no chance in hell they're going to sell out all those stadiums.

Even the GNR/Metallica/Faith No More stadium tour wasn't sold out.

I do believe they're going to do well though.

MSG 2002 sold out in under 15 minutes, but a good majority of the other venues on that ill-fated tour were half empty.  Completely different situation though!

I think it's cool to see them do stadiums in the US for a whole tour. I mean, the last time was in 1992 with Metallica. Stadiums add their own feeling to the shows, it's all about summer and good music and friends and so on. And when it's a stadium, it's about going big and all out.

But I do agree that arenas (usually) are more intimate and of course they have advantages. But you can do arenas in the winter
