So, uhh. How would you recommend me getting to and from the Stadium? I'll be staying in tribeca (it's the first time I'm in the states). Bus, Taxi, train?  beer

IDK where you're staying, but I'd say subway at Chambers St Station (A towards Innwood or C towards 168) to the Port Authority.  Then a bus from the PA to Paramus (the 163, I think?) and get off at Patterson Plank. Then walk the 2 or 3 blocks to the stadium, up MetLife Stadium Drive.  Total cost is maybe $10 or so.  IF you're comfortable with public transportation and moving around the city, that's what I would do.

Cab will cost you at least $40 each way..maybe a bit more with tip.  BUT...a lot of cabbies are not keen on going over to Jersey from the city.  You might have to call, rather than hail, to get someone to take you out there.

You could also try uber.  This would probably work out better, be a bit cheaper, and the driver who picks you up will already know what they're in for.

Either of those last 2 options is going to leave you with a tough run back, though.  You'll have to try to find someone to reverse course and, again, it's tougher to find rides out in Jersey who want to head into the city.  Possible, but tougher.

Here are some more public transportation options from the Metlife website:  http://www.metlifestadium.com/getting-here/public-transportation.  I agree with you about taxi/uber issues, getting back would be a bitch.

I've taken the bus from Port Authority in the past, but was thinking of trying NJ Transit for the concert.

Driving in and tailgating would be great, but I wouldn't be in any shape to drive home...

Have you called Ticketmaster and seen if they have anything they can exchange your current tix for, that's closer?  You should give it a shot!

Cheers guys! I'll be staying at the Roxy in Tribeca. I think me, my brother and friend will manage the first night, but with all the hazzle it seems to be I'll probably only go to the first show with them, had plans on going by myself the second night as well But I guess there's other shit to do in NYC right? Smiley I'll be kicking myself in the ass so much though if they change the setlist.

Really hoping they'll be playing Slither as it'll be on Slash's birthday  smoking

I got a question:  The tickets say the show starts at 8:30pm - but is that when the opening act starts?  What's been the typical 'Guns On Stage' timeframe on this tour?

Sorry if it's a silly n00b question, but I hate Ticketbastard with a firey passion and this is literally the second concert I've been to in 20 years - last was the Chinese Democracy tour..

Hi guys, I'm travelling over from the UK to this show and really cannot wait.

Would I be welcome to join you at the pre-gig drinking session? Smiley  What time is it happening?

Also, I'm staying in New York and trying to figure out public transport.  I'm so anxious about being stranded at the stadium after the gig - any recommendations on decent taxi companies to get us back to Manhattan (and an idea of cost) or reassurances about public transport definitely running as late as Axl might keep me up?

It seems he's usually on time these days, but having fallen victim to his tardiness several times in the past, I'm a bit worried Smiley

Look forward to hopefully getting chance to hang out with some nice people.

Yup, 8:30 is the opening act.  I'd expect doors to open around 6:30-ish?  Maybe a bit earlier, maybe a bit later.  There will be PLENTY of partying in the parking lots (which will open around 3:30) before the show, I'm sure.

8:30 is one of the latest show times of the tour (likely because the curfew for Metlife is pretty lax).  If current trends hold, I'd expect them on stage sometime between 9:45 and 10:00.  They COULD go on as early as 9:25 (that's been their usual on stage time for 8:00 PM starts), but if Lenny's Foxboro set is any example, I think it's closer to 10.

For the preshow "drinking", I know we're (my wife and I) heading over to Redds before the show, for dinner and drinks. Probably get there around 4:30-ish? We're not parking there, but there's shuttles (I think it's like $5?) there and back. Prolly stay til around 7 ish?  And ANYONE is welcome to join. I don't think it's an organized type thing (as far as I know).  Not like we have a reserved room or anything. I'll be the ginormous (6 ft 3, 275lb) guy in the Yankees hat and Bullet Logo shirt. Come say hi!

So...I've only done ONE show at Metlife (and 3 or 4 football games).  For the show I was at, we finished around midnight, and public transport seemed to still be running.  But we drove down.  I've taken the Game Day train to and from Penn Station, and I know that runs for about an hour post game, but I have NO idea (and sorta doubt) if it will be running for the show.

BUT, the buses back to the Port Authority should almost CERTAINLY be running...and you could more easily get a cab/uber/subway from there to pretty much anywhere else in the city.  I did find this, though:

Everyone just ask for "Jarmo's Section" or "Jarmo's Table" at Redds - or if you think someone is with the HTGTH group, just say "Hey you're Jarmo's friend, right?"

We're three, I'll be there with my wife and a good friend of ours, probably 4pm-8pm.   peace beer

Good news, NJ Transit announced that they're running train service for the both concerts this weekend.  From NYC, the train goes from Penn Station to Secaucus Junction and then you need to take a shuttle train to Metlife.  Maybe I'll booze it up at Tracks Bar in Penn Station before hopping on the train.

That's great. It's an option we would have thought about (taking the train down from New Haven) if they'd announced it earlier.

My one complaint is not starting the service til 5:48 PM for an 8:30 show.  I think this is going to be one of those shows with a LOT of tailgating, and a lot of "pregaming".  It would have been nice if they'd taken that into account, rather than just aiming for arrival around the time the doors open!

I know, that's a bit of a bummer.  My goal is to get to the stadium at around 7:00, hopefully connect with some tailgating Gunners and then head in for Lenny's show just before 8:30.  Maybe post which section of the parking lot you're in, if you're still around when I get there, I'd love to stop by and say hello (and take one of your beers Smiley).  Same goes for anyone else here who's tailgating.

By the way, for anyone down for pre-show drinking in Manhattan, I'll be at Stouts (133 West 33rd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues) at around 4:00.

I THINK our plan, as of right now, is this:

We're gonna park at Redds, around 4 PM, and get dinner and pregame drinks.  That gets us some AC (It's gonna be near 100 on Saturday) for awhile, while we imbibe some adult beverages and, literally, chill out.  I think we'll probably hit the shuttle and head to metlife around 6:30 or 7.  Maybe check out some tailgating action til around 7:30.  We've got to go in via the Bud Light gate, so we'll check out our seats (115C, row 23) and then probably, again, head into the AC in the Coaches club, grab some drinks and wait for Lenny's set to start at 8:30.  Head out, watch the set, head BACK into the coaches club when he's done for WATER.  Once GnR starts, I stop drinking 'cause I gotta drive 2.5 hours home after the show. Wink

If we can make a meet up happen in the parking lots, I'd be all over it!  We need a "jarmo's area" roped off. Hey, jarmo..make that happen? Tongue

And, at some point, gotta try to find a couple Tshirts. Smiley

I'll post a ton of pics and a play by play of that day on my twitter (@pilferk) and might even do some periscoping during the day.  I'm not sure I'll scope the whole GnR set...might just pick out certain songs, or just tweet pictures.  Not sure yet. Smiley

PSA for everyone going:  It looks like it's going to be FUCKING HOT. Like 100 degrees hot.  HYDRATE WHILE YOU ARE PREGAMING!  If you just stick to beer for 4 or 5 hours before the show, you WILL NOT SEE THE SHOW.  You'll be passed out in the infirmary with an IV bag hanging off your arm. NOT COOL.  So help me, if I hear about any HTGTH'ers ending up with heat exhaustion and missing the set, I will personally find you and kick your asses!! ;P

We're in the back of Redds, there?s space for one more at our table if anyone would like to join us - just ask for "Lenny's table" we were a party of three when we came in.
