tonight isn't a "show"....its a warm up gig

Stones do this all the time.  They do practice gigs in Toronto before big tours.

I've spent a shitload on Coachella & Vegas.... I could care less about " it's the first show.".......   Fun times for those in LA.

I think this is smart and could not be more onboard.

As much as I love my Rock In Rio II bootleg, parts of that show are pretty ragged.  I'd rather they get that sort of thing out of their systems tonight, as opposed to doing it next Friday and Saturday night.

I mean who cares? If you are mad because you spent up money and wanted to see the first Axl/Slash show in 23 years at Vegas... and this warm up show kills that... then are you really a fan?

Just be happy about it. I'm not even going to anything announced yet. I'm happy about it. Just make the best of it and don't get caught up in "man... not the first one".

Life is short, and life is gentle. Just be happy to be going to Vegas/Coach at all.

I'm thrilled at a warm up gig. sounds incredible!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, its kind of hard for the majority of us still waiting for dates in our cities to hear people going to see them in Vegas (some, both shows) complain about this tonight and how it takes away from their experience.

When you are in T-Mobile Arena that night, or nights, and the lights go out...you're really going to give a shit?

Totally agree. Let's be honest, people crying about the Vegas shows being 'diminished' in any way are doing so out of pure selfishness. They want to be able to brag to others about 'being there' at the very first shows, it's all about them. This thing is exciting enough in itself, anybody going to see any shows at all on this tour are VERY lucky people indeed. Let's just savour this.

Yeah I agree.  I am going to Vegas, and I remember seeing the thing about it being the "first show back" on the AEG site, and I literally said out loud  "yeah ,ok."  That was 3 months ago, and a million things can happen in 3 months.  So if people bought a ticket to the Vegas shows solely because it said "first shows back" that was a big gamble in my opinion.  I bought the tickets thinking it would be cool if it happened that way, but was pretty positive it wouldn't.  I bought them because Guns N Roses were playing.

Does every fan want to be at the first show back for this lineup ?  Of course, it would be strange if you didn't.  It is a landmark show in the history of the band, it is also the reason people are lined up in the streets right now with still very little information to go on(although it seems to be a sure thing)  But the fact that they play a warm up show should have no impact on an excitement level for the rest of the tour.  Being bummed about not being at tonights show? I  totally get that.  But still thinking about the fact you missed tonights show when you are in Vegas watching them blow the roof off the place?  No way.

Also, is there any better place in the world for this to be happening tonight than the Sunset Strip?  It is really where it should happen.

Elton John performed in the parking lot of the old Tower a few weeks ago. Maybe GNR's doing a quickie appearance there.

It feels appropriate to kick off the reunion (or whatever you want to call it) in LA.

Re: phones - I hope they'll film at least a bit of it themselves for some future release.  I'd wait for that over seeing some shitey phone footage sooner.

people are starting to post pics on Instagram.....its happening

Holy shit that's awesome!  There was talk yesterday by some about how doing this would diminish the buzz or excitement for Vegas because it won't be the "first" show.  No way.  If there is already this much attention for a one off, warm up club show, this imagine what the scene is going to be like next week in Vegas.  Fortunately, I won't have to imagine it...

The people in line at Tower are not paying the thousands of dollars the Vegas people paid. So I side with the Vegas folks. GNR should have never said "First show in 23 years" regarding Vegas then do this shit honestly. So I blame GNR for this however today is still epic. You should be able to see both sides of this.

To be fair, we don't really know what the people in line at Tower are queuing for! Neither do they!
