The Whiskey has been around for decades and is one of the most legendary and respected venues in the world for the type of music we're talking about.  I just don't see them f-ing with fans and putting them through the wringer if something significant isn't happening. What do they have to gain by it?

I seriously can see they are testing the true fans to see who is loyal and clever enough to figure it out. Those who do will be rewarded handsomely with the real GnR!!!

Yeah, I tend to agree.

Even though the Whisky is a small club, it's world famous. A show by Hollywood Roses is hardly a "big announcement" for them.

So, just to pour a little more fuel on our big bonfire. Someone at mygnr pointed out the April 5 date.

On April 5, 1986 GN'R played Whisky A Go-Go for the first time ? 30 years ago.

Someone should write GN'R and find out what's up. The address is on the bottom right of the poster.

A fucking tribute band?

That's it for that rumor then...

Or maybe the joke is on us?  Ya never know

Hollywood Roses is a real band... If it was GN'R undercover I think they would've used a fictional name.

Right, anyway spoke to the Whiskey take it for what it is worth but they say guns aint playing...  Great promo for the tribute band though, instant sell out!

Do you trust them that it's REALLY not a cover up for GNR? I don't understand why they would cancel Adler + several other acts in favor of a GNR tribute band.  It seems like an awful idea.  I bought a ticket just incase, now I am debating if I should travel from Indiana to LA for one day just on the off chance it's really GNR in disguise. What would you do?

If it was me, I'd go for sure. Worst case scenario, you have a few beers and a laugh at some clown pretending to be Axl Rose!

100% this.

I went to a GNR tribute band in aus last year, and i had a great laugh, it was done really well.... and it just got me in the mood for the real thing. Dont take it too seriously.. and u can still have a great time. I'd go for sure.. and..... lets say it was the real GNR... then you just got urself a golden ticket.

Ha!  Well with everything happening, if I lived in Los Angeles I would buy a ticket to that Hollywood Roses show and see what happens.  It is a small gamble for what could be a giant pay off.

People are speculating on dates, whether April 1st, 5th or some other date...based on the Whiskey's calendar of events.  What a lot of people are forgetting is that we are talking about Gn'R here. Do you expect them to take the stage at 9pm?

Chances are, if anything is happening, it could start at 2AM or later!  In other words, just because there is already an act booked for a particular night, doesn't mean GnR won't roll in way after!  How poetic if they came on after the tribute band on the 1st?

A heads up for the April 1 show.

On the ticket site they've added a disclaimer:

This is a Guns N' Roses tribute band.

Guns N' Roses will not be playing this show.

NO REFUNDS

Or is THAT the April Fool's? They have us hooked now and there's no turning back. With that being said, I believe them.

I just got an email from the Whisky:

"If you are receiving this email it is because you purchased tickets to the Hollywood Roses Guns N' Roses tribute band at the Whisky a go go on April 1st. Just to clear up any speculation Guns N' Roses WILL NOT BE PLAYING THIS SHOW despite all the rumors going around. This is exactly what we are saying it is a tribute band and they will be playing all the classic GNR hits!

Hope to see you all rocking out at the show!!

Whisky a go go"

Hahahahaha

Fair question.

Here is my reply to them:

"Thanks for the information. I live in Indianapolis, Indiana and was planning to fly out for the show only for the chance that it was GNR. I'm going to trust your honesty in how you are representing this act as the Hollywood Roses tribute band and not Guns N' Roses, which means I will not plan on traveling to the show and will eat the $23 for the ticket. I'm disappointed, but certainly OK with it as long as it's true.

That said, I would recommend a very specific press release to clarify a) to your knowledge, why Adler was canceled, b) why the cancelation announcement included a somewhat derogatory cross-out of Adlers skull, c) why Hollywood Roses was branded as a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, and d) that GNR or members associated with GNR will not be playing at the Whisky on April 1.

Thanks again. I don't expect a reply but would greatly appreciate one. "

That's fair.

I read a post that the show was already sold out. There's no way Hollywood Roses sells out within hours without the shady marketing that Whisky just did.
