Was there last night and all I can say is AXL IS GOD!!

I do admit I'm not a massive DC fan, but do have a few albums, know all the famous songs,... but Axl really does take their songs to another level. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt Axl will sing as well as he did with DC last night for GNR. I'm interested in seeing how his voice ends up later on in the tour because what I heard last night was the best Axl since the 80s by far: rasp, screams, attitude, just wow.

Whoever has the chance, go and see Axl/Dc... once in a lifetime  Cool

While  I applaud your positive comments about the AC/DC show last night, who
The HELL do you think you are to say that Axl won't bring his A game to the GNR shows this summer.

I didn't say he won't, just I doubt he will and I hope I'm wrong  Wink

All you have to do is look at Axl's voice since 2000. I saw GNR on the 2006 tour (considered my many as Axl's best voice since the 90s) and he didn't use his raspy voice as well as he did on Tuesday night. Then, look at the first few GNR shows this year; excellent but nowhere near as good as the DC concerts. Also, objectively speaking, I don't think it's humanely possible to sing like he has done with DC all year long.

I don't see it as being negative or anything of the sort, it's just my opinion based on what we have had in the last 16 years or so.

So, answering back: who the HELL do you think you are to say Axl will bring his A game to the GNR shows this summer?  Wink

That's just stupid.
Sorry for being so blunt but that's what it is.

Your idea (?) that he goes on stage with some kind of "Meh" mentality at some shows is just stupid.

No matter what show you go see, you'll get the best possible one. The band just doesn't go on stage and act out the show....

You have no idea of what you are talking about if you think Axl doesn't prepare for each and every show, with the intention of bringing the best possible performance each and every time. Fact.

Seems like some people don't read and like making up things to create controversy; I suppose it's down to boredom   Wink Only time will tell, but if you are up for a bet, let me know; Axl will not sing a full GNR set with the raspy badass attitude voice that he has used in the last two DC gigs. And once again, I do hope I'm wrong, as I would loooove to see it happen... Axl is God  Cool

The caliber of vocals at these AC/DC shows has not been seen at GNR shows in some time.  It sounds like Axl from 25 years ago.

Ask yourself this.  If he can do 'Rock Or Bust' or 'Thunderstruck' in the style that he's doing it in...how do you explain the end of YCBM the past few years?

Compare the voice he's using on any of these AC/DC songs to the versions of 'Don't Let It Bring You Down' the past few Vegas residencies.

What's the difference?  Why one voice in one spot and another voice in another?  Beats the shit out of me.  But they are clearly different.

I probably wouldn't go as far as to say I don't expect these same vocals at my show in 2 months.  But I damn sure hope I get them.

I think it has pretty much to do with the fact that when singing in ACDC Axl is not in his comfort zone. So, he still has to prove that he's capable. To himself and especially to ACDC fans, who have been skeptical about this whole thing.

That being said, I think his voice was amazing on the GNR shows. I just think he should his rasp on all the "fast" songs. On YCBM, Civil War and Paradise City he still sings with his clean voice, and it takes away the aggrevisseness that those songs need.

He has shown with these ACDC shows that his voice is back, so he should use it full scale on the GNR shows. And I have no doubt he will

Sitting down.

That has to be part of it. It's just easier to concentrate on singing.

..that's not just a theory, Axl mentioned that in one of the interviews. Sorry I don't have the direct quote from him on hand.

Yup... He most likely won't sound as strong once he is running around and dancing all night.

People should expect this... and not knock him for it... I for one am happy with that trade off... brings so much more to the whole show with him moving around.

Yes, he did say that. Adding he feels really stupid sitting down but the fact is it's a lot easier to sing.

Does anybody else apart from me think that we will be getting addition ACDC covers at GnR shows, given the success thus far of performing such songs, he's bound to have a favourite at the end of his stint...

I don?t think anybody is knocking him for it (at least I'm not); it's just an objective comment based on what we have seen so far. He was sitting down in the first few proper GNR gigs and he didn't sound like he did during the DC concerts. Why look for excuses/reasons, he sings differently, period Wink
