Axl fixed the only "weak links" from Saturday's show-- Shook Me and TNT. They sound fucking amazing tonight!
Axl is on fire and still finding his AC/DC groove.
He seemed to sing with more "groove" and "feeling" tonight, not just rasp and hitting notes.

With Axl, that isn't a criteria any more. With Axl they now do Riff Raff and Rosie! The sky is the limit now.

They don't seem to deviate from set lists tour to tour. I doubt they will this tour due to performing with a guest singer.

They'll pay it safe (my guess).

Axl was the "right choice" for the temporary fill in for the following reasons:

1. If AC/DC would have gone with an "identical match" to Bon or Brian, it would have been a small time name-- either one of the great cover bands singers from Back in Black, Live Wire, Highway to Hell, etc. Or Jesse Dupree from Jackyl, Keifer from Cinderella, or Mark Storace from Krokus, or someone like those singers. But at the end of the day, ANY of these names would mean a drastic condescension on the part of AC/DC. It would mean that they were settling on a "no name," obscure rock singer. However, AC/DC is essentially the biggest rock n roll band in the world (an institution, a well oiled rock n roll machine, a "brand") they can't place a "no name" act to front the band in the middle of a world tour. Any true rock fan knows that their is no active "big name" rock singer on the scene right now that is from the same "breed" as Bon and Brian EXCEPT Axl Rose. No, Keifer and Storace are not "big name acts." In addition, Axl Rose was the hottest name in rock again due to his recent reunion tour. GNR were still selling out stadiums, proving that they are a big name act on par with AC/DC. Any other singer would have led to thousands of "ticket refunds" just like the Axl announcement. Regardless of the singer, there would have been fans who demanded a refund because they "didn't pay for some cover band singer" or "some washed up eighties hair band singer" to front an AC/DC show. Some fans would have been pissed off either way. The only difference is that as soon as those thousands of fans ditched the show and got their refunds . . . . ONLY AXL ROSE could bring the same numbers right back to the show. Only Axl could fill the seats right back up.
2. GNR are one of the biggest rock bands of all time. They are a larger than life, iconic rock band that can hold their own with AC/DC. Axl's ego, iconography, dynamic persona, showmanship, and stage presence cam match Angus  and the AC/DC aura and keep the "AC/DC rock n roll freight train" rolling on high octane on a world class level. No other rock n roll name with the pipes and chops in the "Bon and Brian vein" would have worked. True, Axl doesn't sound exactly like Bon or Brian, but he is definitely of the same breed and has many similarities. In many ways, if you drew a line following the evolutionary trajectory from Bon to Brian, the next stop on that line would be Axl.
3. Since it was just a temporary fill in for the remainder of the tour, AC/DC's point was never to find an "identical singer" to Brian or Bon. This was not a rehearsal to find a permanent replacement like when Johnson replaced Bon. They were not looking for the "best match" to Bon or Brian. They were not looking for a "complete re-invention" of the band. Rather, they were looking for the right legacy, persona, stage presence, energy, and vocal chops to prop up the band and keep the momentum of the tour alive. Only Axl could do this. Any one else would be the equivalent of "starting over." Any one who sounded really close to Bon or Brian, e.g. Storace or Keifer, would seem like a real attempt to "replace" Brian, and that is NOT what AC/DC was trying to do. They were trying to save a tour, not find a permanent replacement who "sings the MOST like Brian." Perhaps that is what they will set out to do after this tour is done. Once the tour is finished, AC/DC can go back to the drawing board, get serious about finding an exact match, and "re-introduce" their new singer with a new studio album in the same way they did with Brian during Back in Black.
4. Axl has the vocal range, grit, growl, rasp, screech, stamina, and experience to match Brian in his PRIME. Even the best cover band artists or Storace or Keifer can't hold a candle to Brian in his prime. Axl's range is almost other worldly. He is almost a freak of nature. He is in a very elite group of singers.
5. AC/DC are really fucking cool band. GNR are a really fucking cool band. Why the fuck else would AC/DC want to be associated with anything less?
