I don't see how you can compare the pacing of YCBM with any of the AC/DC songs (or most anyway).  Like it's been mentioned above, a lot of GnR stuff is more complicated and requires more vocally. Name one ACDC song that compares vocally (I'm not just talking loudness) to Coma? To me, other than the obvious full-on effort of high volume, they don't compare. That's why I've always loved GnR; the way Axl's voice is such a versatile musical instrument in itself. Comparing an ACDC show with a GnR show, GnR would pretty much have to sing Nightrain 20 times in a row, which sounds fucking awesome right now btw, and would sound great each time. Personally, I prefer the stuff that challenges Axl vocally, even if it doesn't sound "perfect" live.
Having said that, he does sound badass singing with ACDC. I never had a desire to see them in concert until now. I prefer their earlier stuff, but to me they've been rereleasing the same formulaic album for 20 years. My attitude for a while (right or wrong) has been-- Yeah, it all rocks, but I think I'll just listen to Back in Black until they try something new

I'd say to my ears he sounds better than Brian. But then I've always thought AC/DC were a very one dimensional band, with very little difference in style or sound between albums. I think Axl freshens it up a lot.

On another note- what the hell has happened with Axl this year? It's like a different person, in temperament, reliability, timing, mood, everything. I'm finding it pretty strange!

I have watched a few old-time movies.
Someone get a look at the back of his neck...if there is a cabbage-looking growth there, I'm pretty sure it would mean his body's been snatched by aliens.   hihi

Seriously, I have said it b4, I'll say it again, I don't care who he performs with.  It could be Taylor Swift for all I care or the Lawrence Welk orchestra!  It's just great to see the guy giving it his best.
He has sounded great in '16.
Would I like to hear new material?  Hell yeah!  But I will enjoy seeing 3/5ths of the AFD 5 in July!   peace

I think Axl is happier because he is no longer trying to push a boulder straight uphill.  Things are a lot easier now in terms of public perception of the direction he's taken.

He's "come to his senses" and "done the right thing" as the vast majority see it.  The pushback from a small minority of folks around here is because they see that as a grave insult that slanders the good name of the 2001-14 versions of the band.  Which was super awesome and deserve equal time and equal praise, always.  Well...whatever.  Those people will never be happy.  Let them have their pity party at the grievance convention.  The rest of us don't give a shit.

As for Brian, I started checking out his recent live stuff after hearing people say he'd be struggling himself.  Man, they weren't kidding.  It was basically the same stuff we went through with Axl from 2011-14.

As we've all said, we would probably be unwilling to accept someone other than Axl doing GNR.  So, to a lot of AC/DC fans, it probably doesn't matter if its Axl Rose or the man in the moon.  They just aren't going to be onboard.

But compare Axl the other night to the River Plate DVD that came out in 2011, a concert recorded in 2009.  That's 7 years ago, and Brian hasn't gotten better.  It's hard to say that AC/DC fans in Portugal did not get a stronger performance then they would have with Brian.

Does anyone else notice the "Axl" chant (around the 40 sec mark) before the show starts...that's pretty cool.  peace

I did, but wasn't sure if they where chanting Axl or Angus though!

I am so happy/proud of Axl.  The headlines and reviews for the first show have been nothing but superlatives. Axl and Guns N' Roses are everywhere, and it's all been hugely positive.

What. A. year.  Smiley

I could take AC/DC or leave them alone, but Axl really did sound fantastic on the videos I've seen.  He's obviously having a blast - hope this level of energy and fun will be carried into the Guns N' Roses tour(s) to come.

Same here. I've always liked em', but never enough to buy a ticket.  But performing with them seems to have gotten Axl's mojo going full force, which can only translate positively towards the upoming Guns tour.  ok

Big time.  Best year in forever.

And look at the past month.  Good reviews from the Troubador, Las Vegas, Coachella, and now this.  Why?  Because they were great.

Sort of refutes the point that Axl can't ever get a fair shake from that dastardly press.  Give them a good product, they will commend you on it.

Not rocket science.

I like AC/DC in the "greatest hits" sense.  Like them when they come on the radio.  But didn't go out of my way to listen to them.

But the few clips I was able to rip the audio off of Youtube, I listened that shit all weekend.

Back In Black is one classic album! Basically, get that, you got the best of ACDC in my view!

Yeah, they're the band that's on regular spin on literally every Classic Rock station.  It's almost like there's never bee any need to buy their records.  But man oh man, hearing Axl tear it up in these videos breathes new life into them.

I think he left on his own, but left at the craziest time, in my opinion.  He is the Robin Finck of this board.
