Even though I don't agree with virtually anything you say, I will say this. The AC/DC thing obviously made him hungry...and not for a cheeseburger. You better get your ticket to Guns because these ten dates are gonna have him primed.

Too bad his own 'reunion' shows didn't make him hungry ...
WTF are you talkiing about? I was at the 2 Vegas shows and they were totally awesome. Plus the guy had surgery just a week before the shows. I havent had the chance to watch the whole AC/DC show yet but I can see that Axl totally nailed it. Back in Black was fucking phenomenal. No need to diminish his performances in GNR. rant

Vegas was awesome, his voice wasn't. Yesterday is the first time he's sounded awesome since late '94 when he recorded SFTD.

I simply disagree.  I thought Axl sounded phenomenal in Vegas

Let's agree to disagree.  Let's ignore the Coachella November Rain feed.

Back on topic ?
Funny, lets ignore the whole year of 2006 then. I personally believe 2006 was the best year Axl has EVER had live. He had never had so much control  of his voice before that.  And Im not going by youtube videos. I saw them live in 2006 and I was very much concerned that his voice would be shit, but he proved me wrong, just like he is proving everybody wrong with this first ACDC concert. That's why Im not surprised he can still sing like he does.

Yes please. Let's ignore 2006. Let's ignore '01-'14 for that matter. Let's pretend Axl has been singing great for all of that time.

I saw him live 9 times. I saw him live in '02, '06, '10 and '12. His voice sucked everytime. When you're there you shrug and make the most of it, but if you listen to shows now from any of those years, you cringe...

If he had sounded at all like he did yesterday for all of the hired hands years, maybe we wouldn't be talking about this still. Think about that for a moment, before you declare 2006 the pinnacle of his singing career.

There's a reason the term 'Mickey' was coined...

He sounded up there with the best moments of his career. It was mind blowing, and yes, better than how he sounded at the GNR shows.

It bothers me though that he would rip out that chainsaw voice, sounding like 2010 or the UYI tour, for AC/DC, and not for Guns. If he can sing like that on Thundestruck, he can do better on You Could Be Mine.

I know this was always unpopular around here, but this shows, more than ever, that there was something clearly wrong with Axl's voice 2011-2014. Of course shows were enjoyable, but it's hard to pretend Axl didn't suck when compared to what he can do at his best.
He DID NOT SUCK EVER!!!! rant

Oh, now I know you're just being a hater.
Sure, I know his Mickey Mouse voice. Im not denying he's had bad concerts or hell, even bad years. But I do have ears, and your statement is preposterous. I still have RockAmRing as mp3 and love Knocking On heaven's door . You might cringe, but I know its one of the best performances of his career. And yes 2006, many people here think so too.

I tell you when I cringe, I cringe when I hear Motley Crue or Nikki Sixx stuff (either live or studio). But Im not on their board writing that shit.
But Im not going into a whole discussion with you. You want to be a mad man on an internet board, go right ahead.

I am sure someone posted this, but it is truly amazing how powerful this is!

Correct me if I am wrong but if Angus Young is the only original AC DC member, then when Axl sang Whole Lotta Rosie with Angus at Coachella, that was as much AC DC as these shows.

I have a feeling most of the people saying Axl "sounds better than he has since the 90s" haven't actually seen him in concert since the 90s. I saw him in the late 80s and a few times in the 90s... Also saw GnR numerous times since then. Some shows Axl's voice was better than others (hell, some songs), but that's live music for you (& that was even true back in the 90s). I never felt like he was phoning it in or not hungry (yeah, that would explain the 3 hour shows...). The one thing that I would personally say affects Axl's voice is how far into the tour it is. I do think he gets better as the tour goes on (usually only takes a few shows, but I do think he continues to gets better ).
So, having said that, I think these AC/DC shows might actually be a good thing for his voice. I thought the footage I saw sounded amazing. I probably would've never gone to see AC/DC in concert before (there's a great tribute band that comes around here every few months; that's always been good enough for me). But now, I'm definitely going to try to score a ticket later in the year.
I am concerned about Axl over straining his voice. ALL of the songs seem hard on the vocal chords (there aren't any ballads to "rest" his voice). Plus it's one song after another, not any down time as far as belting out the songs. Add to that Axl really pushing himself, giving 110% to give the fans a great show... But I have faith in Axl as a seasoned professional. He knows what his voice can take better than anyone. Sounds great so far, and I do love reading the comments now. Overwhelmingly positive, with the occasional douchebag trying to trash Axl and sounding like an idiot when his negative comments is sandwiched between a few dozen positive reviews.
Rock on, Axl! Fuck the haters!
I agree.  The GnR stuff VS AXL-DC stuff is like comparing oranges to lemons, you can't, they are different.  Other than Riff Raff and Rosie, where we GnR fans based a view and said he could do the songs justice, nobody knew how it would really go down.  Axl has now set the bar for ACDC songs, but to say he sounds better for these than his own band are talking bunkum, the whole composition of these are different too. Why not settle for in 2016, he's killing it and be happy with that...
This is exactly how I feel. We have nothing compare Axl singing these AC/DC songs to, since it's the first time doing so. Next show when he sings Back in Black, you can compare it to the previous show, etc. But to compare how he sings SCOM to Rock or Bust makes no sense to me. We've heard him sing GNR songs thousands of times, there's a baseline to make such comparisons. To say Axl has sucked the last 15 years and even the last 7 shows before last night seems a tad harsh to me to say the least. I thought he sounded pretty darn good in the recent shows. Thought he sounded pretty good last night too. I'll choose to enjoy what we're getting in the meantime instead of complaining about everything prior to yesterday. To each their own.

I know he sounded pretty good in Vegas, but to say phenomenal?  On Novermber Rain, he sounded weak and a little off pitch until the end when he pulled out the screams...

With AC DC, he actually sounded better than he has with GNR since 2010.  He did in 2010 sound incredible.

And I'm not complaining about Vegas GNR shows.  He is amazing and I am so thankful he is back....  But what if he sang SCOM the way he sang AC DC.... Anyone wondering if he can go that raspy for GNR... And to axl's credit, he actually is now back to being the top rock star as of now...
Go Axl and let's hope he continues this insane throwback to 88 ritz!

ok fair, to be honest I haven't dissected every youtube video.  My opinion might be jaded a bit based on my overall experience being at the 4/9 show (which was phenomenal).  I just think the guy is singing his ass off right now.  The guns stuff sounds great, the ac/dc stuff sounds great.  Hats off to him.

Axl sounds amazing!  Shocked Clearly rehearsing seems to agree with the guy.  Grin Let's just hope he doesn't blow out his voice. I'm impressed, Axl seems like a perfect fit for AC/DC, he sounds like himself, different from Brian who in turn was different from Bon. And that's actually a GOOD thing, because at this point getting a clone of Brian as a fill in singer would have been just...lame. Axl NAILS it!

I still can't quite believe it when I see it... Axl is in f'ing AC/DC!

In the reviews I've read, the words "triumph", "nails it" and "silenced the critics" light up the headlines.

Long time lurker but,I have to say.....Been a Gunners fan since /86, an AC/DC fan since /74.....about time someone stood up (so to speak) and kicked rock n' roll in the ass. Great job Axl. Protect the pipes brother and hope the foot heals soon. I just caught a bunch of YouTube vid's of the show (Bon I'm sure is smiling) and I am sure Brian is glad you are helping out the lads. Only one request forth coming.....a new Guns N' Roses album with Duff,Slash and some Young imput maybe.  ok  beer  Cool
