I feel like Axl has complete control at this point. I am willing to bet that his voice is solid until his career is over. He seems to have a hold on it now.
Just my opinion!
He has not sang Estranged, Nightrain and many others the way he did on this run, and Axl/DC should be the same!

I, too, was afraid of him screwing his voice, but as some people said here ? he?s a professional, so I suppose he knows what he?s doing.
He sounded unbelievable on the Thunderstruck snippet. Holy shit!
With the old Guns back and this insane thing, his career took yet another unexpected turn. A mind-blowing one.

I know most here are happy with whatever he does and decides. But face it, most of the world was not with you on that. They thought he fucked it all up.
And look at things now. Back with Slash. Taking the stage on time. Helping out another band that is in a jam, and taking he time to get it all right for them.
Axl is going to finish 2016 in MUCH better standing with the general public than he has in, well, maybe ever. He will be seen as a guy that finally, eventually, figured it out.
It's awesome.

Man, the more I think about this and the more I listen to these teaser clips, the more excited I am getting for this!
Overall, AC/DC songs are less complex that GNR. The songs have many fewer key changes and are very limited in their notes. The point of AC/DC songs was never complexity, but just straight forward in your face rock n roll with a groove. So maybe singing AC/DC songs will be a walk in the park for Axl. He can now "focus" on just the growling rasp and not worry about "hitting notes." There is no strain on his chords, so he can "indulge in the rasp" with the accessible notes and easy ranges. Think about it, the average person can "sing along to AC/DC" much more easily to AC/DC than GNR. In fact, I'd argue that that is one of the big reasons for the success of their live shows-- the "singability" of their songs and simple rock melodies makes it easy to engage the audience. Simple, fun, rocking melodies that the average rock fan can belt out. That's because AC/DC songs are more sing-along friendly.
Also, Axl, knowing he has a similar tone and timbre to Johnson and Bon Scott, has probably spent much of his career developing his own style and sound and catering to his massive vocal range. He probably wanted to "go out of his way" to avoid AC/DC comparisons and claims of copying. BUT NOW, he can just indulge in his Bon Scott/Johnson similarities and just "go with it" without any worries of copying or sounding too much like AC/DC.
I'm thinking Axl wants to "sound like AC/DC" in order to give the fans an AC/DC show, instead of Axl singing AC/DC and putting his personal style on AC/DC. I think he will approach this as I am not the center of this show. It isn't my job to "sound like Axl" and to "be Axl" on this stage. Rather, I need to empty myself and let AC/DC rise to the top and just play the role.

All great points! I agree. Besides the die hard fans and fan boards, the overall response has been much more positive than I initially thought. The only mainstream rock legends who have been somewhat negative are Daltry. Critics don't like the idea because they worry about Axl's ego and tardiness problem.
Alice Copper = Axl is "perfect fit"
Zack Wylde = "couldn't think of a better choice"
Drowning Pool = can work IF Axl checks his ego
Nikki Sixx = "Axl's got the right voice"
Even the famous AC/DC cover band singer who also tried out for the gig said that Axl has an amazing voice and rocks, but he isn't a good fit. But not that he can't do it.
Bruce Dickenson was only worried that Axl wouldn't show up, but he didn't bash Axl's singing.

It is. Maybe people will also take it as if he?s grown up. But I don?t think he necessarily must have changed that much. Maybe things just finally fell into place, clicked together. The thing is, we don?t know what was behind the reunion, and we won?t until the guys speak up.
As for the tardiness, Slash & Duff wouldn?t put up with it these days anymore. Not to mention Angus. So that?s basically gone, I?d say.

I still want to see what time he takes the stage in Detroit on 6/23, but am as optimistic on that front as I've been in decades.
I see zero problems with the AC/DC tour. I know he can be difficult, but he also knows he is a guest in their house, so to speak. I do not think he will be any sort of problem.
I also think he's probably really looking forward to this. That was a favorite band growing up. It would be like if one of us had grown up to be a singer and had to help GNR out one day. It would be like we were kids again, singing in front of the mirror.

And when you think about it, what were some of the other artists he always mentioned he liked? Queen, Elton John... And who was singing WITH Elton fronting QUEEN minus Freddie in 1992 Wembley?
I don?t think any singer on this planet has achieved anything quite like this altogether. Now that?s what I call dreams coming true...

So do I. Of course music is different but generally so many people are stuck at their jobs that they hate and even doing the same stuff in another company would refresh their mind.
This is a really cool opportunity to help other people and probably only brings good things to his real job.

Because, if so, I imagine I will be staying up all night that first show just like I did for the Troubadour gig.

This is going to rock. Axl's a big boy he'll be fine. He's got at least two days off between shows and then almost 2 weeks before GNR hit the road. Can't wait. That thunderstruck was awesome. #axldoessoundcheck 😘

Yeah, was just looking at the dates. No back to back nights. Pretty favorable set up for a singer.

Has anyone else thought about the fact that for the first time since 1990, Axl is fronting an old-fashioned (in the Best sense of the Word) rock band consisting of 2 guitars, 1 bass & 1 drumkit?

Yes, and I hope he can bring some of that old fashioned back to GN'R

No way of knowing but we have smartphones on this continent as well and the whole service has broken through. Many people know about it so it's more than likely that it will happen by someone.
