This might be already in this thread maybe? I don't know. Here it is again

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ac-dc-confirm-axl-rose-is-new-lead-singer-joining-band-on-tour-20160416

I like the idea, as long as it doesn't fuck with his Gn'R vocal quality. His singing style is really hard to do.

Imagine if the reunion thing wasn't happening and this was announced. It would be huge huge news. I mean it's already big news of course, but with the Gn'R thing going on (Thank God) it is getting under the radar somewhat I think.

Should be cool. Like I said before. Gives him a full 10 days rest from a full live show before the Gn'R tour kicks off.

I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think he'd be doing it if he didn't think he could handle it. He's a singer, and singers sing. That's all he's doing. It's not like he's become a UFC fighter or anything. He's had plenty of rest in his career. Now the man wants to work. I say, good for him!

But apparently this AC/DC information going public was the kicker to Axl wanting to do an interview with Eddie.

Now it's official, let's hope that interview could happen soon.

Omg there are a lot of tickets and I guess angry AC/DC fans.  Grin Whatever, I'm so happy to see Axl!  love
Tbh though, if Brian was doing the vocals for GN'R, I would sell my tickets too..

You can't compare that. Angus is the most important AC/DC member right now. Not Brian.

Haven't seen any of you guys stepping up for Axl and/or Guns with the AC guys...
Just a girl from Brasil. 😉 That's SO typical. Big mouthing it here - but shutting up once opposed... No wonder Guns prefers Girls...😜🙈

Axl fronting their band and GNR fans getting to buy up their returned tickets is all the stepping up needed.

It's stupid to get into an argument over it on THEIR fan site.  Roll Eyes

When evaluating all the categories of judging great rock bands, it is a very close match between two great bands. At the end of the day though, I think GNR is a smarter, more emotionally complex band. They appeal to punks, classic rock fans, metal fans, country-rock fans, pop fans, hip hop fans (the groove), etc. They have a mass appeal. Yet, I do think GNR are more like Zep and Stones, where as AC/DC is more of just a fun, party band. Their true legacy is in their longevity, loyalty to fans, and CONSISTENCY. Fans kept getting what they wanted, very little "musical evolution," so at the end of the day, GNR is the greater band who will ultimately have the greater rock legacy. AC/DC is more Walmart and Nascar, and GNR is more "tortured rock genius" who can be more easily hated and misunderstood.

Rock Quality = goes to GNR (Someone show me AC/DC's Estranged, or November Rain, or Coma, or Madagascar, or This I Love???) not going to happen
Rock Longevity = goes to AC/DC
Rock Prolific output = definitely goes to AC/DC
Rock Image/Iconography = tie (Although I would give a slight edge to Axl's vocals and classic bandana/aviator look vs. any image of Bon Scott or Johnson, In addition, it is a very close match between Slash's top hot vs. Angus's suit and tie)
Rock Anthem's = tie, slight edge to AC/DC for number
Rock emotional depth = GNR hands down
Rock lyrics = GNR
Rock influence = AC/DC overall, but this is due to their longevity, although GNR is still living through the height of their influence. We are still seeing kids who "came of age" during the late 80s and early 90s forming bands, becoming famous, and citing GNR as an influence, so in many ways GNR's influence is still being felt, e.g. Kid Rock, Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, BuckCherry, STP, Shinedown, Marylon Manson, etc. Remember, with all the "Axl hating" and "Gnr are not cool" of the mid 90s, those bands at the time come of age in the 70s and 80s and were influenced by punk and thrash metal, so GNR's influence was not recognized during the early 90s grunge, alternative, indie rock revolution, I started to "see GNR's legacy and influence" in the late 90s with bands like Kid Rock, LB, Lincoln Park, SliipKnot, etc. But with the passing of time, GNR's influence is growing and coming more clearly into focus. It is BIG!! And their "spirit" is felt today in all ambitious bands who hunger for rock's glory days of larger than life icons, riffs, melodies, and packed stadiums. They long for the days when "rock music" was the dominant cultural force of teenagers and young people. When rock music was THE music of partying teens, it was a cultural force  and not just a "niche" in music. Young people want to see rock music return to its glory, when "rock stars" were the face of American music and not hip hop stars and pop stars. Unfortunately, Eminem, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Kesha, and Justin Bieber are the "Axl Roses' of the last decade. Kids know this and want to return it back to rock.

I wanna see how Axl can sing the songs from the Brian Johnson era. Back in Black and Thunderstruck for example.

I can understand the position of the fans who rather the band retired. Switching vocalists is a big deal for fans. Yes, AC/DC have done it before, but it's such a long time ago now and Brian did create his own legacy and earned it though many decades. The Axl situation isn't quite the same though, since he is for all intends and purposes a guest with the band.

Personally I think the whole thing is awesome, we're Axl fans and it's a real cool thing for us to be seeing what happens at these shows.

I've looked at the AC/DC boards and many people don't have a problem with Axl, but Angus who's calling the shots. They seemed to be impressed with Axl's vocals on the AC/DC songs last night.

Some see this as an interesting thing that they look forward to witnessing, and some are straight out pissed off about the whole thing.

Quite divided fan base there now.

I wonder if he'll get open hostility at the gigs? I can't see why anyone wouldn't sell their tickets if they were that hostile, but people are strange.

I can't see him taking well to things if, for instance, some smart arses decide to try and chuck stuff at him, which could easily happen.

The question is, if that happens, who will the hostility mostly be directed at ? Axl or Angus?

I don't think this will be a huge problem though, I think the people who make it to the concerts will be there with an open mind. I think Axl will surprise many people also (in a good way).
