I'm really starting to think that there is a great explanation for Axl being at their rehearsal space that doesn't include him 'fronting the band' for even as much as a show.

Agreed.  I have no idea why Axl was there, but it's hard for me to believe that Axl thinks fronting AC/DC is a good idea, especially at this point.

If he did, I think the best case scenario would be that he'd take a lot of flack and needlessly divert the focus from the huge GNR happening.

A shit ton of money, may just be the answer.

And really likes the band!

Or maybe he sees it as a fun creative project.

The problem is that the band is not answering the big question: what is really going on with Brian?
If Brian already had this problem, their insurance wouldn't cover the tour cancellation and that would explain why they can't/don't wanna do it.
If they said "Brian is having this issues, getting some proper treatment and hopefully will be back when he is fine. Until then we're asking some friends to finish this tour with us...etc."
If they did that, fans would be much more understanding, I think, since it's just for a few shows. But as it is right now I do understand how they're feeling. They don't know what's going on with their singer, there's all these rumours and the band is preparing to go on with a replacement, so of course they're ready to eat him alive.
And if they're still not happy about it, they can allways ask for a refund.

I keep going back and forth on this one. I don't think Axl is going to front AC/DC. Maybe AC/DC could make a guest appearance at a Guns N' Roses show.

That was my point on the last page, Axl could have met them in Atlanta to rehearse Rosie with the intention of getting them to back him at Vegas or Coachella (similar to what they did in Paris 92 or to a lesser extent with Baz and Kid Rock at Hammerstein).

Just now on national radio in Belgium :

'Rumour has it Axl Rose will join AC/DC temporarily to fill in for Brian Johnson, who was told he risks having permanent hearing damage if he continues touring.  In the case of Axl Rose, this wouldn't matter, that guy is already beyond help!'.

I don't buy that at all.  Axl could've reunited with the original members of Guns N Roses 20 years earlier if money were that important to him.  And if that reported figure of $3,000,000 per show is accurate, it's not like GNR isn't a huge payday right now for Axl.  He doesn't need AC/DC for that.

He's doing it now because he's out of options.

That's not to say that his attitude towards Slash may not have legit softened over time.

But I talking more in terms that if any of his new line-ups actually caught on with anyone other than lifelong Axl Rose fans (for the most part), and everything was going swimmingly, I don't know actually getting back on stage with Slash is that big a priority.

He coulda continued with BBF etc., release CD2, tour... the guitarists wouldn?t have left if that was the case IMO.

Anyways, good thing this is happening. It was long due.

I can see why Axl would want to help out a band he loves, but from a fan perspective and with the HUGELY anticipated reunion on the horizon, I have literally zero interest in this.

I don't see the payoff.

Based on everything I see and read, very few are excited about this.  So the expected reaction will be that he, and it, will be totally shit on.

And what's the "good" outcome.  People saying afterwards, "well, guess it wasn't all bad"

Is that a big selling point?

If one of my favourite bands asked me to sing with them, that would be a pretty big payoff..

Well, Bon Jovi doesn't need a singer...

I'm listening to some random AC/DC now and it sounds great. Why would ruin this with something that just doesn't fit into it.

I know that everyone is allowed to post their opinions and all, but holy shit are you guys negative!!!!  Axl can sing most AC/DC pretty well, he's covered a lot of tunes.  They are rescheduling tentatively for the fall from what I understand, after the summer tour.  He may do a few dates, and I think the maximum is 10 left on the tour.  The band wants to continue, either for contractual reasons or for the fans.

To me, this is a dream to see, especially after seeing the new lineup of guns this summer.  Favorite singer, great band.  Brian Johnson can't sing or he'll go deaf.  Simple, right?

He's an AC/DC fan, so it must appeal to him as an opportunity.  Personally I would cross the road to avoid an AC/DC gig whoever was singing for them.  I think they are boring, superficial and repetitive.

AC/DC is legend, Axl is legend, if they play together it will be legend, that's simple as that.

Yup.

Would love to see it.

AC DC fans have a right to be skeptical disappointed or whatever that their singer was pushed out... but as an gunner... I see no reason to knock it if Axl wants to do it.

To be perfectly honest, my main reason for knocking it is that I don't feel like listening to all the butthurt from a bunch of GNR fans when the reviews aren't great.

Even if its made quite clear going in that said reviews and comments are not coming from anyone remotely open minded or fair, people will find it insulting and tragic.

We had 2 threads posted here just recently about past GNR concerts and past promoter stories.  Look at all the heavy sighs and "its just not fair!!" sentiment because anyone dared say something that wasn't glowing.

This will not be glowing.  My advice is to prepare yourself for that reaction, because its coming, and its coming hard.
