So lets say 30 percent of fans want a refund... I would imagine the GNR fan base will scoop those tickets right up don't ya think?

Yeah, I would.

Personally I think he would crush it, and it's a win-win for both camps, but we'll see how real this is. BUT the AC/DC forums are about 98% negative about this, and frankly I think the 2% are some of us getting in the mix to defend Axl.

I don't know this is win-win for Axl.

People already unhappy about it will go in with closed minds and come out of the building spitting venom.

I think the chances of people saying "I had huge doubts, but I have to admit, he was awesome" coming out of the show are around zero.

Winning the hardcore AC/DC fans over would be difficult, but the press for Axl if he does kill it (plus the potential of video/audio etc) could help fill out 21+ stadiums in the US (depending on when these 10 shows would happen). It's the causal rock fan you are really trying to win over, like independent voters this coming November...

I am sure most of those ACDC tickets were sold right?

So lets say 30 percent of fans want a refund... I would imagine the GNR fan base will scoop those tickets right up don't ya think?

I'm saying it will help put asses in the seats for the GnR shows (if the 10 US AC/DC shows are first). It is a pretty ambitious tour considering they haven't played US stadiums since 1992, and AC/DC last year (well considered successful) really didn't sell as many seats in stadiums as they could have.

... but yes there will be refunds and GnR fas will scoop those up, it's the drag of casual rock fans that may give GnR a try after seeing him kill it for AC/DC that are the gravy (win) in this case.

Agree with u D, I have been reading comments from acdc fans and 95% of them HATE the idea of Axl fronting the band. They rather see the band retired before that, the nasty comments/insults towards Axl are sometimes hard to read.

I only know one person who likes AC/DC and he hates Axl Rose. So be it. I'll scoop up some tickets as I'm sure others will. This would be one hell of a show.

Just do a twitter search for #axl #ACDC #Axl/DC etc... it is hugely negative. They have the board as a closed site for now, but the ACDCfans message board is also hugely negative. They are super protective of their band like we are here with GnR and they in their eyes do not think that Axl compares in any way to Brian Johnson nor do they think he or GnR are on equal footing with AC/DC.

I haven't seen the Bridge School video more than I have in the past few days, AC/DC fans are pointing to that as the reason why they never want to see Axl on the same stage as 'their' band.

Just imagine what Guns N Roses fans would be saying if Axl were being replaced by Brian Johnson.  Even GNR fans who like AC/DC would be ripping Brian Johnson to shreds, and we all know damn well that no GNR fan would accept it.  AC/DC fans are expressing the same vitriol, and justifiably so.  Brian may not be the original AC/DC singer, but he's been with AC/DC for nearly 40 years, and he's earned that spot behind the AC/DC microphone.  Axl hasn't earned that, and never will, no matter how well he might sing the songs.

Personally, I love both bands but the notion of interchangeable singers is unconscionable to me.  I wouldn't spend a penny to go see either band without their proper frontman.

The difference though in this case is that Angus is the Axl of AC/DC... They have already done it with a different singer. What you are saying though is the angle they are attacking it from, except that most of them do not seem to be fans of both bands or Axl in general. Most of these comments aren't that he isn't right for AC/DC... it's just that he sucks. (their opinion, not mine)

Bridge I get what you're saying but I think this is one of those situations where an exception could be made. Axl was heavily influenced by AC/DC and I think the timing is one of those once in a lifetime moments when Axl is BACK IN BLACK!
I never approach A List celebrities  on the street BUt when I had the chance to have Bitty Ted take a picture with the God Of Thunder himself, there was no way that I was passing up that opportunity.

I think this is the right read and the crux of the issue.

I think you say it perfectly.  If Axl fell and broke his leg and Slash and Duff told us, don't worry, we can get Brian Johnson...would we roll with that?  Of course not.

I think Axl will take a lot of shit over this, some of it pretty harsh and unfair.  And this is a summer where he should be looking at a lot of love.

Who needs this bullshit?

Yeah, he "sucks" because he's not Brian Johnson.  You cannot compare Brian Johnson to Axl Rose in terms of just being "another" singer for AC/DC.  Brian never was a "substitute" singer for AC/DC.  He took Bon Scott's place because Bon passed away.  And for the last 36 years, Brian Johnson has been the frontman who earned that spot.  Just because he wasn't the original singer doesn't mean AC/DC fans will just accept any singer who is thrown their way, and it's an insult to them to even suggest it.

I haven't read all the comments regarding this, but is it not possible this whole acdc/axl thing is a PR stunt? Intentionally or not... it stirs press for both bands.

I'm really starting to think that there is a great explanation for Axl being at their rehearsal space that doesn't include him 'fronting the band' for even as much as a show. I tend to wonder if they are going to try and stream or record one of these shows similar to what they did with the Paris concert with guest spots (or think 2006 Hammerstein with Baz and Kid Rock)... AC/DC has some down time, maybe he is going to have them out to stand in for a Rosie or Riff Raff performance in Vegas or Coachella and possibly record studio version of a song like Rosie for the Guardians of the Galaxy Sountrack (AC/DC was supposed to be making a cameo in the movie)

Far fetched, but I don't think it as any more out there than Axl/DC...
