I thought that was silly (the idea that ACDC would open GNR shows)... but they didn't deny Axl could perform with ACDC right?

Although that particular bit was really unrealistic, good to hear they are helping to clear up some things.

They don't deny Axl being involved with AC/DC though.

As far as any strain on Axl's voice, he has sung ACDC songs for years. He doesn't have to imitate Brian's voice. He'd only need to be Axl singing ACDC songs. He's probably the closest voice out there to Brian's these days.

Somebody mentioned a black spot on Axl wanting the photo to be shopped. I don't see any odd spots. What I do see is the sun hitting his face the way I'd think it would be with the shadows behind him.

there is a black box on the TMZ site. I can't make out his shirt, but is that a topless woman? since you posted a pic without the box, maybe that is how it was originally on their site and the more recently added the box to cover it up.

personally, I never thought of it being photo-shopped. looks clean to me. and we know he was in Atlanta. and we have a DJ saying a very good source told him Axl met with AC/DC while there.

and not only has there been no denials, but we actually have management giving a no comment response. and someone from their camp (Malcolm Young's son) confirming it. once I saw that, I've been assuming that this is essentially a done deal.

Ok, I see the box on TMZ. I'm guessing they think their censoring something inappropriate.

An oxymoron IMO, since I find TMZ to be inappropriate. Or a waste of space.

Tommy Stinson's response shouldn't be ignored. Axl & Tommy are probably still close. Text-buddies even. I'm guessing Tommy reached out to Axl regarding the ACDC rumors like any close friend would.

Interesting no denial regarding Axl leading ACDC for some shows.

Well I think it's crazy to think they didn't discuss this at this point...

What was he doing in Atlanta in the same building as they are rehearsing in ?

Now lets wait and see.

The part about opening for Guns was from a satire article last week I think.  No surprise it was denied, it was never reality

Did people not actually read that article?  I read like something from The Onion.

Interesting that a Guns representative states that Axl/DC won't open for GnR, but doesn't state that Axl isn't fronting AC/DC, sort of similar to the AC/DC representative not denying the Axl rumor, but instead stating that they 'have nothing official to announce at this time'.

This just feels a lot like the 'nothing to see here' treatment that the reunion rumors got from August 2015 until January.

This feels so wrong to me... even though Axl is my favourite singer, and AC/DC are my other favourite band.  I'm gutted for Brian Johnson - seems way to soon to do this.  Surely they should cancel the tour then take stock of the situation before pulling in a replacement.

Will the existing AC/DC Thread in 'Bad Obsession' get moved to Solo?

Have to refund the money.

10 presumably sold out shows would be a lot of loot.

They haven't said yet. I'm guessing after the GNR summer tour.

I agree, cancelling those shows outright would be a huge financial hardship... and it's not unheard of to get a few show temp replacement to continue in someone's absence.

AND let's be honest... AC/DC is Angus Young. He is the only person in that group that you cannot replace. Replacing a singer is at an admittedly higher level, but look at what GnR has done in years past with long term and short term replacements: Fred Coury for Stephen... Don Henley for Stephen... Gilby for Izzy Mid Tour... Izzy for Gilby in '93... Frank for Brain Mid Tour... Duff for Tommy.

Also by plugging in Axl, if the shows haven't sold out, they will... It isn't like a real life 'Rock Star' where they are auditioning Lead Singers from AC/DC tribute bands. On top of that, Axl isn't looking to jump ship and sing someone else's songs long term. This is the perfect senario for Brian if he can get healthy (if they for instance bat out the US shows and postpone the Euro Tour)

I'm hoping for a platoon approach to these gigs where several guys each sing a couple of songs. It would be a great way to send off the band too. The comments section of these photos are pretty discouraging in terms of him fronting the band. He's got an uphill battle ahead of him.

I've got my fingers crossed Brian is back for the London gig that I have a ticket for.... then bring on a GNR European tour!  However, if anyone is to step in for Bri - Axl is the best option by far.
