Eddie Trunk hinted at a secret Guns N? Roses warmup show ahead of their big comeback gigs in Las Vegas in his new blog.
 
?I will be attending the GnR shows in Vegas. Maybe a special event somewhere before the first night. Keep an eye on this space for details. More news soon.?

Los Angeles? Whisky a Go Go club posted the following over the weekend, possibly hinting that their venue could be the home of the much anticipated warm up gig.

MSL is reporting on GNRTruth that Slash and Duff McKagan are working on unreleased Chinese Democracy era Guns N? Roses songs.

?I am under the impression that many of the songs from the group of songs we think of as the ?second half? of Chinese are still intended for release. Slash & Duff did some studio work on a couple of them, which will hopefully be released on a ?best of? collection later this year. As for when a full length album of new material would be released, I have no idea. but i don?t think Axl worked on those songs for so long to keep them buried. It?s just a question of the right commercial timing.?

?Slash was really out of the picture by 95 . . . material from 97 did end up on Chinese Democracy . . . I have no way of knowing what would or would not be revisited, but I personally believe Axl?s focus in terms of new music, if/when it?s ever released, continues to be the songs we think of as the ?second half? of Chinese.

I was told by someone in Slash?s camp that he laid down a solo for ?Atlas Shrugged.? That is why I?m assuming it might be a song included on a best of collection.?

It seems the basis of the rumor is the one quote from Eddie Trunk about there may be a special event before the first night.


It's taken completely out of context in my opinion. He clearly is talking about some sort of event that he tries to put together himself.

I read that as some event with his name on it at a Casino Club where he collects a portion of the proceeds from the door... maybe a special guest like Jericho or another guy from his show.

Personally, I will stretch it as far as interviews with band members. There's more hope than realism with that though, but I think there's a chance.

I think they would have done a surprise club show if they were going to do it. Maybe a private event or something for family and friends if they did have it, and there would be a lot of people dropping hints the day of the show and word would spread fast. After what happened to the David Lee Roth reunion with Vai a few months ago? The fire dept made them cancel the show. Crazy, I know. Who even cared? They have to be careful with surprise shows at clubs.
