Pretty sure him tweeting that he loves Taco Bell had something to do with the commercial getting done, or more than likely this was in place a long time ago.

Very cool.

I'd have thought that the original tweet was in response to comments in regards to the shape he appeared to be in. Baggy clothes have that effect  peace

ok, but using nearly 30 years old song (no matter how great) for every commercial gets boring soon.

Did you see the Steven Tyler one with Skittles, "Dream On"? lol  Great songs are just great songs, . And used in fun ways can create or bring in younger fans .

OMGzzz did you hear while WTTJ was playing and they said "this is going to be bigger than VR" and the commercial showed Virtual Reality but we all know Axl helped make the commercial (the tweet is pretty much confirmation) and making a subtle dig that this is going to be bigger than Velvet Revolver I'm super  nervous nervous nervous that Slash and Duff will find out and call it quits.

I really think that was just a coincidence.
Probably more of slam at people who live their lives to post on social media.

That's what I assumed as well - that Axl was making light of all the "fat" comments he received to his most recent photograph.

Same here.

I thought it was funny.  I laughed.

Will be even funnier if he takes the stage on 4/8 in decent shape and voice.

Axl will look great in Las Vegas and he will blow everybody away.
Why do you always have to make this little passive aggressive jabs at Axl?

The difference between using WTTJ in the Taco Bell commercial and Dream On in the Skittles commercial was that Steven Tyler was actually in the Skittles commercial so it was a fun way to bring attention to the product and his music.

Besides those of us who knew the connection between Taco Bell and Axl's tweet, there was nothing highlighting that commercial's connection to GNR.

WTTJ is played so often during sporting events that most sports fans really don't even hear it anymore and older sports fans/non-GNR fans probably couldn't tell you what band that is or the name of that song.  They could have played 'Whoomp, There It Is' or 'Who Let The Dogs Out' and had the same effect on most viewers.

I would imagine GNR got a nice royalty check out of the commercial and maybe Taco Bell's parent company will be a sponsor on the future tour generating other promotions.

Well, it's more that right now, we don't know if that joke lands, do we?

He comes out 4/8 looking great and sounding great, yeah, its a great burn.

He's comes out not so much on both fronts...isn't that tweet going to be thrown in his face?

For the record, I don't think the man's an idiot.  I don't think he tweets that unless he has the former scenario in mind, not the latter.

I expect the former.

They ran the commercial during the X-Files yesterday and The People vs O.J. Simpson tonight.

IMO, it plays better during shows like these than it did during the Super Bowl because of the targeted audience.

As I previously mentioned, WTTJ is played so often during USA sporting events.  It's so normal to hear it playing that you no longer notice it playing because you're focused on some other aspect of the game like the kickoff or something.  It's part of the game.

During the X-Files or that O.J. show, their targeted audience would recognize WTTJ as being the song you would normally hear at a sporting event, too.  So when you hear WTTJ and that guy say REAL football and kicks a soccer ball, you go: oh haha.. I get it... real football ... the guys kicking a soccer ball to the kickoff song music ... haha.
