« on: February 01, 2016, 02:20:07 PM »

I wonder if Slash will continue playing the Godfather theme..If so is it considered nostalgic since he was still playing it with the Conspirators? Will Richard have a solo and will it be the James Bond theme leading into LALD? Always loved Duffs UYI solo, how he would come out and play drums with Matt than jam before hitting into Rocket Queen....

I would like to see a jam after in place of solos I enjoy the solos but I would like to see them just jam for a few minutes just to see how slash and duff play with frank and Richard I think the chemistry will be awesome

Why be stuck in the past? The Godfather theme is cool. Slash's take on it is wonderful. That being said... Why continue to repeat the past. Move on. It's not a GN'R song. It's a Slash song.

I'd like GN'R shows to be more concise. The 10 minute solos for each guitarist to me was always unnecessary.

You're aware that he used to do this solo back in the day when he was in GN'R, right? Smiley

The solos will never go away, because it gives Axl a chance to duck backstage for a blow.

My only suggestion would be don't do them all back to back like the UYI tour.  That 10 minute death march (until 'The Godfather') was the worst part of every bootleg.

I know you have a soft spot for me.
Here you are, only posting to correct me. Except, you didn't.

He said: It's not a GN'R song. It's a Slash song.
Hence my response that he used to play it before, in GN'R, as well. Better luck next time. Smiley

But yes, it's possibly the most known Slash solo he's done to date. In GN'R and solo.
If some think he should move on, fair enough.

I always liked 'The Godfather' leading into 'Rocket Queen' or 'Pretty Tied Up'.

Sounded cool.

Being 16, seeing GN'R for the first time. Hearing that song as his solo was pretty cool.

And yeah, it segued into Rocket Queen.

Why play Godfather again ?
I loved the small jazzy,Floyd-esque bits GN'R was doing between songs.I also loved the almost 20-minute guitar solo Slash was playing with the Conspirators during Rocket Queen.
Maybe we'll get them in the forthcoming setlist, who knows.

The Godfather theme was dead on perfect back in the day and I suspect it will rear its lovely head once again

Why play Godfather again ?

Possible reasons why:
It's well known among the fans.
It's a solo he's done in GN'R as well as solo.

Possible reasons why not:
He wants to do something new.
The surprise element.

 Huh

Maybe because it's his solo. Without the rest of the band?

I guess you could say Attitude and Raw Power are "Duff songs"....

To be honest, I wouldn't want a 1992 setlist in 2016.
Not the same guitar, drum and piano solos, no Attitude (since there are numerous other, punk and not only, songs Duff could sing) and especially no Horn section solos  Wink
The Godfather theme alone, isn't that boring !

Impromptu jams would be damn cool !  beer

As I sit here now... all things being equal- I'd like to hear something new/fresh from Slash.

That said- could easily see myself going nuts if he breaks into "The Godfather" at a show I attend. Lol. hihi

Maybe buy a ticket for a slash concert?  Wink

kidding... but seriously... if we got one new song at one of these shows id think you will be doing well. Id happily take any kind of variation on what they did during the illusion tour. Godfather theme into rocket queen... that'l do me fine.  Cheesy

I love when Slash does the Godfather Theme solo.
However, I'd love a new solo...perhaps the theme song of something else iconic
