Do you really think that, after touring and playing with Slash and Duff, Axl will get a good response from the public, media etc. picking new musicians to form a new GNR? I don't think so.

Not even a little bit.  He'd also start to lose some of us, I imagine.

You tell me I have to take a chicken shit line-up and convince myself it's actually chicken salad because you can no longer work with the chicken that made us a fan of your cooking in the first place...fine, I'll roll with it.

But once you patch things up with what the overwhelming majority of us feel is the proper chicken vendor, why would I (or anyone) accept a substitute?

The only way it could possibly work, is if Axl wanted his music out and couldn't make it work with the guys......

If Axl was to continue to tour, with out the guys, with his own guys, playing the old music from years ago...     It would be very bad.

I really hope this train stays on coarse and we do get a couple of new songs out of this current lineup

Wasn't exactly burning the midnight oil in that regard these past few years.

As others have said, if you believe the Evil Label Overlord theory, having Slash and Duff in the mix is his better bet.

The Pink Slips and Alice as openers in Seattle.  Smiley
The Pink Slips are Duff's daughter Grace McKagan's band.

Who's to say that Slash isn't having fun? Slash is a very focus guitarist. Even with Myles, he's very focused. I saw him twice with Myles. He really didn't say much. It is known that he is shy.

I'm not saying that...

I was the one that said it SEEMS like he's not having fun because he seems to be more focused.

I also said he should maybe try wearing a silly hat.  Lips Sealed

Slash's onstage persona seems to be more focused and on doing the job to the absolute best of his abilities.  (I find it kind of sad that Slash doesn't seem to be having too much fun.  Maybe he should try wearing a silly hat or something.)

... and my point was that an interview could reveal what their true feelings about this thing is. Of course, if no one are having fun, there won't be an interview. I don't think that's the case though.

Sure, we could get answers like "it's great" and "we love it", but it depends on the interviewer I think.

The onstage thing is just one small thing though, as I said before I hope they will sit down and talk about what the future holds, if there are any plans and maybe some details around that. If they've thought so far ahead yet, that is.

About the future: I find it curious that no one in the band or associated with it, to my knowledge, has said that the US tour and the dates to follow mean that the band is back together on a permanent basis. They've just said they are doing a whole tour. So what happens after that has run its course? It's entirely reasonable that Slash and Duff go back to their solo projects. That leaves Axl kind of stuck. At this point Axl needs Slash more than Slash needs Axl. Or maybe GNR will come together on an "as needed" basis which leaves plenty of time for side projects. In any event, I would bet money that we have not heard the last of Slash with Myles and the Conspirators. Unlike VR, which does appear to be dead.

The only way Slash will be recording with Myles again, is if he and Axl cant come to terms with recording new music again.

If Axl wants to play these giant American stadium shows, he will still need Slash.

However if aftr all this is done, Axl could easily get any guitar player to tour with him, just like he has done for years

Do you really think that, after touring and playing with Slash and Duff, Axl will get a good response from the public, media etc. picking new musicians to form a new GNR? I don't think so.

I don't rule out the possibility. We don't know if the are writing songs. We don't know if they are or will be recording. Even if they are doing all this it is up to the record company to make that happen.

Axl still owns the name (as far as I know) so he can do whatever he wants. Frank and Richard are already there. Maybe DJ and Tommy could join them again. And so could Finck or somebody else.

Of course they won't perform in stadiums. But Axl and the people I mentioned have their fans. So they can always perfom in Vegas

Sure he can. But after all this, an amazing tour, all this praise that he didn't get for a long time?
It's not a wise move IMO and even worse for the GNR legacy. After eating caviar I don't wanna go back to McDonald's, you know what I mean?
But I know, Axl has his followers, they would buy a ticket to his concert even if it was just him playing bongos.
He can do whatever he wants, I just don't think it's a good idea.

I don't believe more than a few days goes by without Slash tweeting thanks to the SMKC fans for their loyalty so it wouldn't surprise me if he and Myles are going to continue their collaborating in his off-time from GNR.
He tweeted this just a few hours ago and is typical tweet of him acknowledging the SMKC fans.

So you think would put some songs aside for use with guns and still put out a solo album with more material?

He has always struck me as a guy that just puts out music, period.   If he has some good tunes he is thinking about, why would he not put them out with his current band GNR?

TBH, I haven't followed Slash's solo projects so I have no idea what or if he has written songs with Myles and if that styles differs from what he did in the past with GNR.  As with his style with VR, I would think Slash conformed his parts to compliment Scott (God rest his soul).

Slash's style is very recognizable.  That being said, I believe when he writes something, he probably does it with the specific project in mind.  And if, for example, Axl gives him something he wrote for CDII, Slash will write his guitar part to compliment Axl.  Same with his Myles collaborations.

What i would love to see, but will never happen (also money printing press):

2 disc blu ray collection:
Disc 1: Concert, from metlife, includng the "behind the scenes" type video we saw on fb that night.
Disc 2: Guns n Roses version of "behind the music" stule documentary, with them all detailing how they all came back together, and stories from rehersals and the tour.

Who wouldn't pay $40 or $50 for that?

And if you really want...a 30th anniversary collectors editon including a giant collage litho, with all the lithos from the tour in it, a 30th annversay copy of afd (remasted would be awesome!, but not required), and a copy of the tour program that they started selling last show. All for the low, low price of $150....hell, make it $200!

Despite the percentage of hardline Axl loyalists here, theres not enough in the general population to match his earning potential with Slash, probably not by half, and maybe not even a quarter. After so many years of tours without new material---essentially touring behind the old catalog and CD since 2000---Axl by himself, flying the GNR flag or not, would eventually be relegated theaters, casinos, and state fairs. He can make much more money with Slash, and vice versa. If they put out new stuff they could even make more.

In south America and Europe and Asia the name GNR was still selling great.

How much that would last touring the same show..   I am not sure

I don't think so.

From what I have heard, when Slash writes a piece, he just writes it.

HIs first SnakePit album, was he choice for the next guns sound.   Axl has said he even heard Slash play the hot VR song Fall To Pieces, back in the day.

Even Slash when he has played with MJ back in the day, sounds like Slash.

I really hope Axl doesn't try and get Slash to play over top of already canned music, i.e CD2.   I would like to hear that music for what it is and for the players that wrote it.

I would love to hear Axl and Slash write something fresh together......

I do think if that doesn't happen, what ever music Slash does come out next with, would be what he would want on the next GUNS album.   I hope it is, cause I cant stand Myles

I agree with both of you.
What I mean is that even without Slash and Duff he would still have some audience. On the other hand I don't think it would be like the last 15 years, when he managed to have large audiences in SA and Europe. Now that everyone saw them back together, and what they can do onstage, I don't think he would get the same acceptance. But I'm just guessing. For some people the name GNR plus Axl is enough.

That surprises me but you and the rest of the world would know more about that then me so I take your word on it.

HIs first SnakePit album, was he choice for the next guns sound.   Axl has said he even heard Slash play the hot VR song Fall To Pieces, back in the day.
I guess to them "collaborating" must mean that they both would have to agree on what matches up in both their opinions and if they don't agree then each can do (or not do) whatever they want with his material.

Even Slash when he has played with MJ back in the day, sounds like Slash.
I agree that Slash has a unique and very recognizable sound to anything he plays but I can't imagine him writing something that he thinks would work for every artist he collaborates with.  I would think that he must have to in some way "adjust" whatever he writes to conform with the individual project/artist.

I really hope Axl doesn't try and get Slash to play over top of already canned music, i.e CD2.   I would like to hear that music for what it is and for the players that wrote it.
Totally 100% agree but I think you and I are probably alone on this.

I would love to hear Axl and Slash write something fresh together......
TBH, I don't care if they do or don't.  If I had my druthers, I would want Izzy n' Chris n' Tommy to be involved along with Dizzy, Richard, Frank, Melissa and Duff.

I do think if that doesn't happen, what ever music Slash does come out next with, would be what he would want on the next GUNS album.   I hope it is, cause I cant stand Myles
I'm not familiar with Myles' work so I won't judge him but if Axl n' Slash can't agree to use some of the music Slash writes or has in his vault, Myles is welcome to it as far as I'm concerned.

Am I reading this right? In a perfect world you would want to hear an album written by a group including Axl, Izzy, Chris Pittman, Tommy, Dizzy, Richard, Frank, Melissa, and Duff... but you could take or leave Slash?

Opinions are opinions, and music is subjective, but wow... I get it some people came up with Chinese Democracy, which I can appreciate. BUT IMO (there's that opinion thing again) even the CD tracks that have been played sound better with Slash than without.

NO!  You are NOT reading it right!!!  That list is in addition to Axl and Slash!!!

But TBH, I was lying about wanting Melissa n' Duff to be included.  Embarrassed
