Sounds like a great place to visit!  I am sure glad I am not travelling to this place to be told what time I have to go to bed at as people have to work tomorrow !!   That's the stupdesest thing ever

If I was the band.  I would come on at 745   Play for two hrs and say   Now go home and go to bed and have a safe day at work tomorrow.

So if a sporting event goes into overtime in this place do they start these fines?  Sorry sports team.  People have to work in the morning

I am sure the bars are just so much fun around this place!

They only do it for concerts. Patriots Monday Night and Thursday Night Games go later than this almost all the time. The bars at Patriot Place are open until 1:00AM... it's the combination of the outdoor concert noise and 50,000+ people leaving out onto the only road in and out of the stadium.

Looks like Guns are gonna be set to a very strict curfew at the Foxboro shows. They were denied an extension on the 11:15 curfew. They asked for 11:40. So fans attending  those two shows better hope the band is on by 8:45 if they want a full 2 1/2 hour show. I mean i doubt they'd cut the power if they went a few minutes past but anymore who knows? And it could likely mean a heavy fine. They were apparently denied the extra time due to it being the middle of the week. Had it been a weekend they would've been granted the extra time.
Not gonna lie.  Part of me would love to see Axl take this stage at 11:10 as a big FU @ the curfew especially after being turned down for the 25 minute extension.

One would think that in today's world, security will be there in full force anyways so crowd control shouldn't be an issue. And these fine men and women certainly deserve all the OT pay they would be entitled to from the fines incurred.

GNR should pick one of their more obscure, never (or rarely) played live songs to start the show followed by a curfew rant just in case things go awry at the 11:15 mark.

After that, Axl should keep singing as long as he can until the police - in full riot gear - try to drag him off by his good leg while he hangs on for dear life to one arm of the throne and Slash n' Duff take hold of the other arm of the throne and they play tug-of-W.A.R.

For at least these one or two nights (depending on how quickly he makes bail), I want GNR Axl 2016 to embrace/embody those negative stereotypical Axl-being-Axl things that have been stifled with AC/DC Axl.

 Grin
LOL apparently the only reason the band was denied the extra 30 minutes is cause it is a week night and people in the area have work the next day. Had it been a weekend they would've been granted the extended time.

Foxboro isn't a real hopping town for nightlife, at least I don't think so. It's a good 40 minutes from Boston, but the main reason people go to Foxboro is for events at Gillette Stadium. Most outdoor venues within residential areas have some sort of curfew, don't they? Maybe that's why the show time is scheduled for 7? Planning ahead perhaps, or is that the start time for all shows?
.
Likely planning ahead because it is a residential area. My show in Dallas is scheduled for 8. AT&T has a retractable roof though. So sound pollution won't be an issue. Unless they keep it open that night which seems unlikely because it's very likely to be very hot in Arlington in August. Yeah all outdoor venues have a stricter curfew then an indoor place. When i saw them in 2011 at Gexa in Dallas they were allowed to go to 12:45 on a weekend. They still cut it short though that night.  That night they had to cut out Better, Shackler's and Riff Raff. I was totally bummed not to hear Better. So i am definitely looking forward to seeing Slash play it August 3rd.

Does it seem like we are really splitting hairs to anyone else?

We are talking about a 25 minute difference here, 11:15 versus 11:40.

It's not like GNR objects to 11:15 and is instead requesting 12:30AM.

You have to understand the Town of Foxboro... if Gillette wasn't there, there would be nothing there. However the selectmen love to rule over the Kraft's and the Stadium with an iron fist. They fight him (Robert) over everything... and most of it stems from his fight to build a casino across the street from the stadium which failed. There was also an issue with concerts when there was a fatal drunk driving crash leaving a Country Music Festival Show there back in 2004-2005 timeframe.

It certainly seems reasonable to me. How someone getting to bed at 11:15 instead of 11:40 is going to make that big a difference is hard for me to imagine. I understand the need for a curfew though. I don't agree with it, but hey. What I don't like is their "excuse" that it'll be an "older" crowd. What the hell does that have to do with anything? If it was a younger crowd, they'd allow the extension? I highly doubt that. They should've left that part out and just said that its a week night, it's in a residential area, people have to work in the morning, and Aaron Hernandez needs his beauty sleep and doesn't want to be disturbed from his jail cell. Ok, maybe not that last part, but it's just as good a reason as the crowd being older as far as I'm concerned.

In the macro sense, everyone loves the idea of a downtown stadium.

Know who doesn't?  People that live "downtown".

Here in Philly, the local neighborhood HATES both stadiums.  You would too, I imagine, if every Sunday during football season and a few times a week during baseball season you had people pissing on your lawn and leaving their shit everywhere.  To say nothing of the noise at night games.

You can't be blind to that stuff.  And answers like "then you should move" are juvenile and impractical.  People built these stadiums there.

Ditto saying "what do you expect, its rock n' roll and supposed to be loud" when it comes to concerts.  What practical application does that have if you are just trying to go to bed on a Wednesday night?  You give zero fucks about how "rock n' roll" it all is.

I make sense all the time.

But almost all my stances are detached, unemotional ones.  That puts me at odds with some of the gang here that wear it on their sleeves.

Here in Edmonton we are just about to finish work on our new downtown arena and I cant wait.   Our downtown has been a dirty unpopulated area for years.  Nothing to do other than work and go home.

Now with this new "Down town entertainment district" being built, that has cost billions, the downtown is vibrate and exciting again.  It will be the place to be.   Tens of thousands of new resedences being built as a part of this.  So I do not think anyone of those people will have a problem with any noise or increased traffic.  In fact they may welcome it.

I travel to Seattle a lot for sporting events.   There downtown has two major stadiums side by side, just on the out part of down town, but easy walking distance from any downtown major hotel.   I always have such a great time there.   Late baseball games on a Friday night, bar hop to the game and bar hop back to the hotel.  Its great!

A lot of cities "get it"   A ton of people that go to these events are from out of town (especially sporting events).   When I am on vacation or travelling to see a show I do not need or want a curfew.  I will respect the cities laws that do have these, by never going to them

Nothing is better than arenas downtown!!!!!!!

If Axl loses his shit on this tour, it'll be thanks to Fucksborough.

I hope he goes on early and they play a full set - don't want to see things get ugly...but I won't lie - I'm really glad Chicago is first.

Foxboro isn't a city though. It's a town, and not a very large one at that. As was mentioned, the stadium is about the only reason to visit the town. Town ordinances are different than city ordinances. It's just the way it is. They could've played Fenway Park right in downtown Boston with no curfew. But you're looking at 35k capacity instead of 65k. That's a lot of dollars you'd be losing. It is what it is. In the end, I hope it's not a big deal. If they could take the stage around 8:30, it'll all be good. We'll have to see how the first few shows go as far as start times, setup time after the opening act, and show length to see how big a deal this will or won't be come July 19th.

Foxboro isn't a city though. It's a town, and not a very large one at that.

The last census I could find put them in the ball park of 16K residents. When there is a Patriots game there are approximately 4.25x more people in the Stadium than there are residents in the town... The drunken disaster that Country Fest turned into for years really soured the residents to concerts.

I really like this reply and it pretty much answers if guns will go over curfew I this location

The answer is no

The will start early and endearly and not receive one cent in fines

Why

Well like posted above they are playing this venue pressicelly because it hold more bodies and generates more money.  They are not playing this cation to loose money in any ways.   So everything will be on time

A down down ball tour spread out over two or three nights would be fantastic. Especially with no curfew.

Is Toronto the only ballpark they are playing this tour so far?

Yep, the fine for just going 5 minutes over would be astronomical. You figure 60,000 people times 10 cents per each. That's hundreds of thousands of dollars. 6-15 minutes over it jumps to 25 cents per person. 30 minutes over it jumps to 50 cents. It would start at 600k and end up being 3 million if they went 30 minutes over. Which means they'd break even for the show.

They're playing AT&T Park in San Francisco and 2 dates at Dodgers Stadium. I think those are the only others. Would've loved to see them at Fenway, but Gillette just makes more sense from a financial standpoint. Maybe next time around.

Yeah, something tells me they're not in this to break even. I think it'll all be good. I won't worry until I'm in my seat at 9 o'clock and they're not on the stage yet. But I don't think that'll happen.
